Subworks Active Sonar Display

Description
Active Sonar Display

Features
  • Target Selection and basic tracking
  • Target Position and Bearing calculation
  • Noise Simulation
  • Custom FOV settings
  • Variable range and Single Ping / Continuous Ping settings

Noteworthy

Use the A/D and W/S controls on the seat to slew the contact selector. When hovering over a contact, press your trigger hotkey to select that contact. Contact Distance and Bearing information will be displayed on the panel dials and its positional data will be sent through the Composite node. Contacts from a previous scan cannot be selected while a new scan is in process.

Works on any Monitor size, however I do not recommend using it on a 1x1 Monitor due to the small size of it. Furthermore, when using it on larger or multiple monitors, I recommend turning off the noise simulation because it can cause signifocant lag.

Check out the Passive Sonar Display as well:

Hope you enjoy, feel free to leave any feedback / suggestions in the comments!

Updates:
- 11/08/2023 - Added option to turn off Noise simulation
- 02/04/2024 - Fixed inverted baffle indicator, thanks luckypanda!
- 06/13/2024 - Improved tracking algorithm & added cursor distance and bearing indicators
- 07/19/2024 - Dials for range and bearing have been replaced by additional Target Information Display. This can
display target coordinates, depth, bearing, range, speed and course. Composite output has also been
modified to send additional data.

I am not sure if I am stupid or being pick but is there not a way to make the sonar passive until you hit active? I understand you cant get target data but it would be nice to consolidate it into one unit.

im dense with lua but I did figure out how to change the range, its on the workshop subchaser that I just posted the other week

If you know how to edit the code in the lua controller you can change the way it works

Is there a way to increase/decrease range without having to click through all of the range settings?

Perfect! Youll probably see when it gets uploaded!

Plan in using this in a ww2 era subchaser, I assume your ok with workshop builds using your system? With credit ofc

Hey, you're right about the inverted baffles indicator. I fixed that one now.
The range button does work, you just need to turn off the sonar transmission in order to change the range.
Thanks for the feedback @luckypanda!

like, it works fine when you spawn and you are facing south and the baffles are north, but once you turn to for example, west the baffles will also be pointed west

also, at 360 of fov the sonar doesnt work aswell as the baffles rotate the wrong way (but the last one could be my error, just the physics sensor is rotated the right way so idk)
