Description
For a city set in late 1950s with assets meant to evoke the look and feel of Middle of 20th Century North America, when new trends in architecture and design began to appear, and steadily transformed the past into a new vision of modernity and futurism.

This is for an anachronstic build so it requires more hands-on work to make it fit the look and feel of late 1950s America.

In the Collection are not only the growable assets but all kinds of supporting props and items, including mods such as B.O.B. that are required to remove more modern items from the buildings, roads, etc.

Advanced Building Level Control mod also helps tweak things to keep it MidCentury.

Use "Make Historical" to lock the appearance once you have what you like.

Also - Cities Skylines District Styles have two major flaws:

1. The Update button has been missing from the main menu's Style Manager for about a year, Paradox has been made aware and has not resolved. This means that newer assets added to this Style and Collection will only appear on the Workshop in the Collection, so you might want to allow some areas to grow without assigning a Style at all, to see if you can force the newer additions to grow there (re: dudemeister's MidCentury homes pack):

2. Style does not want to allow smaller assets to grow, especially low residential. The 1x2 and 1x3 shotgun houses and some other small houses will not spawn if they are within a District with any assigned Style(s), so experiment with allowing some areas to grow without assigning any Style and use Make Historical and your Bulldozer to control that area. It is great for a "slum" or "poor area". If you later assign a Style there the smaller homes will disappear, even if made Historical, so just leave it unStyled.

It is worth the effort!

Not all assets used are American -- I used anything on the WS that fit "the look" with a particular focus on 1900-1959. There are also some modern signs and items that are included as part of certain assets' models, so they cannot be removed with B.O.B. and you will need to ignore them or hide them with other assets.

I just thought of something - if you update the one that was in this collection (leland?) to include all of them then it will be included in this District Style because it will be an "update" of an asset that was already assigned to this Style. I believe that would be a work-around for the missing Update button, if you want to try.

The button has been missing for a year. Paradox was made aware of this problem on their forum but have not done anything to fix it. The only reply I've received is "use --refreshWorkshop" and "make sure the local file is not in your Styles folder" which were the first things I did. So far, nothing works and Styles cannot be updated, only deleted and republished. This is a core feature of the game and one major reason I am not going to buy CSII. A company who abandons a title like this and doesn't care to fix broken core mechanics is not one I want to support.

Thanks! I was wondering what happened to the Update feature...

If Paradox has fixed the missing Update button on District Styles I will, if they have not then I won’t be able to add them to the Style but can add them to the Collection with a note that they will only grow in areas without an assigned style.

Hey m4gic, hate to be a bother. But I just released a set of 1950s/1960s houses (one of which is already in this collection!). Any chance you could update this to include: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3093686153

A great comprehensive collection of older buildings useful especially for North American cities.
