Description
AURORA MAGNA
Looking to round out your party with alternative healers and protectors? Visit the Abbey of the Aurora, and seek training in three new classes: the Confessor, the Inquisitor, and the Sentinel! Confessors anoint their allies, turning allied attacks into teamwide healing. Inquisitors protect as they attack, with powerful new passives granting Guard and Ward. They can also shield their allies with Adaptation, granting reactive immunity to elemental damage. Sentinels are protective archers that watch their allies vigilantly, supporting them with holy arrows. All three classes offer a different take on support archetypes, and should bring variety to your Life mages in battle.

All three classes can be unlocked without any combat encounters, but be careful! Ascending to higher floors, or poking around in the depths beneath the Abbey, will bring you face to face with some challenging foes! Hints: the Confessor can be unlocked by speaking to Brother Barthus right outside and paying a small fee, the Inquisitor requires solving a puzzle in the catacombs, and the Sentinel is unlocked at Brother Barthus after unlocking both the Confessor and the Inquisitor.

Confessor: combat healer who empowers allies with the ability to sustain themselves

  • Recover: Revive an ally, and heal all other allies for a small amount.

  • Indulgence: Cure yourself whenever you KO a foe during your turn. If already cured, become Anointed.
  • Guarded Strikes: Melee attacks grant you and nearby allies Guard, but cost MP.

  • Fletcher's Mending: Lightly heal allies around the target of your bow attacks.
  • Taste of Triumph: Lightly heal all allies when scoring a KO during your turn.
  • Miracle Cure: Automatically cure yourself if you have 3 or more ailments.
  • Trenchant Fletching: Bow attacks inflict -1 physical and magic defense to the target and foes in the area, while adding to ally defenses.

The Puzzle Boss:At the top of the Abbey of the Aurora is an encounter that will seem almost impossible. The boss can be beaten, but not through brute force. If you are having trouble figuring out how to defeat her, check the next spoilers. She can be defeated with repositioning effects. The barriers offer a clue. Another way is to bypass her immunities through a transfer effect, like the Scourge's Torment, and then sacrifice one of your own. Be sure at least one of your crew is not under the effects of Domino though!

Sure, aileen. It starts in the top left with constancy, then it's compassion in the top right, commitment in the bottom right, and finally communion in the bottom left. There are hints for this in the dialog with various NPCs at the abbey, and in journal entries.

Regarding unlocking the profession of Inquisitor, can you tell me the detailed names of the Doctrinal Stones corresponding to each direction?

by far the most challenging and interesting battles in the entire game, beating them felt very satisfying

Thank you, Mheros!

Great puzzles, Not to difficult. great encounters which offer a good fight (at least on the higher difficulties) Lost boss actually gave me a game over, and I needed to rethink my usual go to strat. Which is a good thing. Well done

Thanks, it was easier then I thought

Of course, jesesarte. In the catacombs beneath the abbey, there's a puzzle near the top right of the map. You'll need to push/pull the various stones that correspond with certain tenets of the abbey and place them in the right spot before pulling a lever to "check your work," if you will. If you do it correctly, relying on the hints in the zones, you'll unlock the Inquisitor . Please let me know if you'd like a more detailed response, and I can give you the solution for the puzzle.

Any hints for the inquisitor class?

That’s valid feedback. I’ll consider a nerf, most likely to amount healed/restored. Potentially a range nerf, though I don’t want to reward bunching up anymore than I already do.

In my testing, I found Confidant worthwhile, but hard to slot for on my melee characters.

Are you sure that Confidant isnt a tad overpowered? Putting it on your entire party is like having a free cast of both Harmony and Rhapsody every turn
