Description
Limms

Increasing environmental pollution and the high demand for mobility in Europe have led to a search for ways to shift freight traffic from roads to rail. Until now, large-format flat glass in Europe has mainly been transported by special trucks. However, AStrans and Pilkington Inc. have developed an innovative solution using their own special wagons with special fixtures and a non-slip floor to transport flat glass by rail. These wagons are environmentally friendly and enable the efficient transport of flat glass between Scandinavia, England and mainland Europe. For this innovation, AStrans received the European Transport Award in 1998.
