Zalcore Rapid Response Teams go anywhere ... even where angels fear to tread ... and sometimes they come back (just barely) with really excellent technology to reverse-engineer. The Zalcore Railgun is based on a venerable design used extensively in battles against the Strogg. Who are the Strogg, you ask? No one you need worry about in this particular dimension.
