All about Glows/Auras/Resplandor [ING] 2024 by ĶÒ.ÓŊEĴØ

Supporting the Community and players with little experience in the game. I bring my rabbits their corresponding carrots... In this guide, I will show and explain more about Glows. (the edge of the color line [auras] of the models that make you see them behind walls, for example) To make the game a little more interesting, since the developers did not explain it to us clearly. And also for those people who are new and don't know how to do these types of things that give us an advantage in the game. Because we all get bored of the Glows that come by default in the game.
I have created them myself throughout my experience with the game. I know everything about L4D! His god ĶÒ.ÓŊEĴØ
I hope you enjoy it! 🇳🇴 🇻🇦🇨 🇧🇦🇳

The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are combined in various ways to reproduce a wide range of colors.
Normally, the range of color intensity number in RGB is 0-255, but in L4D2 it is 0.0.-1.0 [Float]
And you need to know the color values you want to set.

Each Glow/Aura consists of 3 Cvars:

  • Ends with: _r red: represents the color red
  • Ends with: _g green: represents the color green
  • Ends with: _b blue: represents the color blue

Example:
cl_glow_survivor_r "0.254" numerical value of red intensity cl_glow_survivor_g "0.411" numerical value of green intensity cl_glow_survivor_b "0.882" numerical value of blue intensity

Remember that you can modify the values of all the Cvars to your liking. Both colors or the speed of when the survivors bleed to death.

In order to correctly use the following Glow/Auras You can put the CVARS in your "autoexec. cfg" file which is located in the following path on your pc, in that folder! "cfg"

Local Disk (C:)
└📁Program Files (x86)
⠀└📁steam
⠀⠀└📁steamapps
⠀⠀⠀└📁common
⠀⠀⠀⠀└📁Left 4Dead2
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀└📁left4dead2
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀└📁cfg
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀└ The configuration files are in here! "autoexec.cfg" for example.

In this image we can see how that GLOWS_default.cfg configuration file are. Created for this guide

Health bleed?

Another very curious aspect that we can see and control when we are Special Infected is the effect of when a survivor is bleeding out. This can be noticed when a survivor takes pills or when they inject a shot of adrenaline.

And all this thanks to the following Default Cvars.

cvar_name "default value"
Description
cl_glow_survivor_health_bleed_pulse "1"
Enable - disable bleed pulses of the survivor

cl_glow_survivor_health_bleed_pulse_amount "0.3"

Heart rate when bleeding a person survivor
min. 0.000000 max. 100
cl_glow_survivor_health_include_buffer "1"
Enable - disable - Include a temporary health
buffer when displaying health of the survivors.
min. 0 max. 1

Color blind vision?

If you have the Colorblind or ColorBlind Mode option activated:

Set to 0 to Disable.
Set to 1 to view the crosshair with high contrast.
Set to 2 for specific color changes intended to help common types of color blindness.

cl_colorblind "0" // Disabled cl_colorblind "1" // Just crosshair cl_colorblind "2" // Enabled

Colorblind mode affects Infected's vision more: and to change the colors you must put the word: "_colorblind_" at the end of the following Cvars, looking as follows:

Cvar_ColorBlind "default value"
VISION OF SURVIVORS AND INFECTED
cl_glow_ability_colorblind_b "1.0"
cl_glow_ability_colorblind_g "1.0"

Some frequently asked questions

Can cl_glow__*** be used to disable only the glows of the bots?
No In general, Glows affect a group, not just one entity.

What happens when I set all RGB values to 1?
The same as if you mixed colors physically. You will get a WHITE Glow/Aura.

What happens when I set all RGB values to 0?
No Glow/Aura will appear, you can use it for unwanted Glow/Aura. You do not get a BLACK Glow/Aura.

Can I change the Glow/Aura of the gas canisters in Dead Center and The Passing finale?
No, as they are map specific Glow/Aura, so you cannot set them. You can see more map-specific glows in custom campaigns.

NOTE:
Like survivors, if colorblind mode is enabled, the survivor's glow/auras/health glow commands will not work.

You must also add "_colorblind" before "_b" or "_g" or "_r".
(e.g. cl_glow_survivor_health_low_colorblind_g).
