Introducing Day Number 08, the ’Vantage’ - Planetary Habitat

“Here we fall, to be consumed by the black and crushed into oblivion, becoming one with it, as all things will… and yet through the darkness, I saw the burning glow from a rising white flame - I witnessed the immolation of universes and through it, their rebirth: a flow of energy bathing and rejuvenating our crushed and pulped remains, transcending us beyond the unknown to be remade a new.

We should all have died in that pit, and yet somehow here we were; awake once again at the edge of a new frontier; a star system existing far beyond where anyone could have thought it possible.

Not a crew member aboard could put into words what they had just undergone, the teeming decks had fallen silent… except for a faint pulse - a slow signal pinging from the main comms dish and calling out.

Across the system we had arrived in, on a secluded world of ice and snow, something was trying to make contact. Maybe hostile, or maybe friendly. Perhaps alive, or perhaps long dead - I don’t know, but that's hardly a first for today. All I do know is that we have been offered a second chance, an opportunity to start over, and my promise to find you didn’t die in that void.

If you are alive on that planet, I will find you. If not, then I’ll find you anyway.”
