Description
This addon gives a console command with which entities will be displayed in front of you.

How to use: in the console, bind the command "scanner_ping" to a button
ex.: bind g scanner_ping

Based on the scanner in "Dead Stranding" and the echolocation in "Metal Gear Solid V", this mod sends (fictional) signals in front of you and shows found entities on your HUD. It detects everything that is not spawned by the map itself, from props to npc's and vehicles, created via you, another player or some other mod.
The functionality is customizable by the console.:

- pingscan_angle (def.:60): The angle of the scan in degrees, higher values make the scan wider
- pingscan_distance (def.:2000): Maximum distance the scan will go in hammer-units
- pingscan_time (def.:2): How long it takes from press of button until the scan reaches the maximum distance. So with the default settings it will take two seconds to reach 2000 units.
- pingscan_displayTime (def.:2): Additional time that entities will stay on your HUD after pingscan_time. So with default settings total display time will be 2+2=4 seconds.
- pingscan_cooldown (def.:6): Cooldown for the next scan

This addon, although my biggest project yet, is pretty unfinished. I have mainly uploaded this script to see if anyone would be interested on such a concept. So if you want this addon continued, feel free to subscribe or leave a comment.

I really enjoy this idea. I think it'd also be great as TTT equipment.
