Station Framework

Description
Ever wanted to have a reason to do something besides hide in distant bases away from activity? Station Framework may help!

Station Framework is a mod that adds additional utility and purpose to space stations ingame. Ideally, this should allow players more opportunities to interact outside of violence, while also providing mutual benefit to all server members by making stations a form of critical infrastructure on a server.

A Beacon in the Dark

For those wanting a more dynamic PvE environment, stations now can be used to "ward off" higher difficulty NPC Ships.

These lists of "high" and "low" difficulty ships are flexible, and can be defined by an NPC mod developer (or a fan through a separate mod) by including config files. (can be found here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?edit=true&id=3111261666)

Modders can set ships of varying difficulty to spawn outside a distance of their choosing, allowing NPC difficulty to scale with how far you are from home (or alternatively any other station of your choice). when within the specified distance, the normally hostile ships will be replaced with harmless cargo ships of the developer's choosing.

Mutual Benefits

Just as much as we want more engaging battles with pirates, working with friends can now provide benefits!

Players now have the ability to create trading stations simply by placing a store/contract block on their station. By doing so, their station will receive a new perk: Mutual Funding!

How this works is whenever someone flies through the "territory" created by your station, the station owner will receive a cash incentive. The more friendly you are with the traveling player, the more you will receive! Additionally, the traveling player will also get a proportionally smaller payment (usually around 50%) to keep them traveling via this route.

Encouraging Interaction and Competition

Another perk Trading Stations receive is an automatic broadcast ability. Now, whenever a trading station is created, all players in a server will be handed coords so they can come visit!

Additionally, players can use the "/stations" command to generate a list of GPS coordinates for every trading station on the server, allowing them to pick and choose as they like!

This mod also contains other economic metrics for players to use to drive them to compete with others.

Interesting, I don't play on server so no idea if it will be useful for me but came here as it was a required dependency from another mod that I was checking so... We'll see if I use it xD

currently there is not a config for space credits. I may add that in the future depending on how not lazy I am

I also think I fixed the issue with the coords. now you generate a full list with a command. coords are saved locally so they do not save through multiple play sessions

Does anyone know how to configure the amounts of spece credits?

i think this mod is putting NPC station coordinates back on each reload; regardless of if they are disabled or removed.

SE needs a lot more features like this. Thank you for making such a great mod!

@black_dragon

So far, this mod should work fine with the mods you listed or any other MES mods on the workshop. As of right now, none of the actual economy logic has been changed, it just lays more stuff on top.

As for MES mods, it should work fine provided all your NPC configs for SF all use space/encounters, air, or planetary installations exclusively (otherwise you would get weird effects such as spawning ships into the ground or flying stations). As of right now, I'm not aware of any mods that use an SF NPC config, so there should be no issues with this. I may make an extended config specifically for use with MES mods that allows for all three spawn types depending on how I am feeling over the winter.

Keeping my eye on this one.

This sounds great. Im very curious how this will interact with other mods that do stations. I use the Freight transport mod by Patrick that puts trade stations out to run freight between them. I use Lucas's Trade Operators mod that puts trade stations and ships in the world. I also use More NPC Encounters v10 that has trade stations that are shipyards that sell custom ships and does repairs. I hope this works well with them as the more npc and poi activity there is the better it is.
