Description
Originally constructed in the 1960s to power the town of Milton, the Carter Hydro Dam project was abandoned after only a few years of use as coal and copper prices fell at the end of the decade. The massive structure was closed for nearly twenty years before the project's revival in the mid-1980s with the goal of modernizing the dam and its equipment, but this too fell through due to increased seismic activity in the region. The dam was permanently closed in the 1990s and has been abandoned ever since.

This boxcar, along with others like it, saw extensive service along the Trans-Island Line primarily between the dam and Port MacKinley, bringing in supplies and materials for the dam's construction and later modernization. After the dam closed, these boxcars were repurposed for other freight and general cargo, though most retained their Carter markings.

Recommended to operate on Rinston's Great Bear Island Railway layout.
