Dreams of a White Victory: Redux is an alternate history mod in which Pyotr Wrangel led the Whites in Russia much earlier than historically during the Civil War, which collectively led them to victory over the Bolshevik Red Army. Against the backdrop of Wrangel's policies in an attempt to end the civil war as quickly as possible, countries such as Ukraine, Belarus and Finland were not subject to intervention from their eastern neighbor and were able to gain their independence. Over time, a defensive alliance, the Petrograd Pact, was created between these countries, including Russia and neighboring Mongolia, in which each country was obliged to defend each other in the event of foreign intervention. In 1936 the situation becomes tense. Russia has been suffering from an economic crisis for many years, which the white authorities have never been able to overcome. The Ukrainian population has been rebelling against the Hetman’s power for a long time and insisting on changing the country’s course. Belarus is divided into two parts and is completely dependent on trade with Russia. In this situation, only Finland is doing more or less well, but dependence on its eastern neighbor also makes its own adjustments. How history will develop in this alternative world depends only on you. For comfortable gameplay, the mod adds a huge amount of content, mainly for Ukraine, Russia and Finland.

Russia

In this alternative history scenario, General Pyotr Wrangel took charge of the White Russian Army during the Russian Civil War far sooner than he did historically, leading them to victory over the Bolshevik Red Army. Since then, he has ruled as the Supreme Leader of Russia at the head of a military junta. To preserve the hard fought peace, he did not attempt to conquer Ukraine, Finland, or any of the other breakaway states. Instead, he formed the faction known as The Pact of Petrograd, whose members include Ukraine, Belarus, Finland and Mongolia. This eastern bloc is similar to the modern day EU or NATO, where each member state pledges to defend one another and allow close economic cooperation.

However, even with the communists defeated, things are not well in this new Russia. A Bolshevik insurgency has hampered the junta the entire time, leading to economic stagnation, and nobles and generals rule over their own petty fiefdoms at the expense of the common man. It is becoming clearer every day that significant change must come to Russia, lest it collapse into another civil war.

Additionally, in this alternate universe, Anastasia Romanova, the daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, manages to survive the execution of her family. She has been living in hiding ever since, fearful of being caught by the Bolsheviks who want her dead. The path to find her is only somewhat hidden, but if you do find her, you are able to seat her as a constitutional monarch on the throne of the Russian Empire! As a peaceful development, Russia can maintain stability and democracy in the country and concentrate on internal development, avoiding any wars.

Ukraine

The power of Hetman Skoropadsky in Ukraine has extremely low support from the people, who are tired of the leader’s policies towards Russia. It is worth noting that Ukraine has always had difficult relations with its eastern neighbor. Many territories of the country were occupied by neighboring countries, including Russia. After the departure of the German Empire from the territory of Ukraine, the White Army insolently took away Crimea from it, as well as other lands to which the country had claims, such as Starodub. The country's economy has suffered from stagnation and recession for many years. Trade policy is mainly oriented towards the Petrograd Pact countries and mainly Russia, which makes Ukraine critically dependent on it. Despite all of the above, perhaps with a new leader, Ukraine will be able to achieve success in the international arena. The country has great prospects for development. If Ukraine changes its course, it is quite possible that it will be able to regain lost territories, get rid of Russian influence and overcome the internal crisis.

Finland

In the 1920's, the Finnish Republic was overthrown in a coup by a nationalist organization, the Lapua Movement, helmed by Field Marshal Carl Gustav Mannerheim. Since then, Finland has drawn closer to the Russian Sphere due to the similarities between Mannerheim's and Supreme Leader Wrangel's political and world views. However, Republican movements have been gaining steam, demanding that Mannerheim and his Lapua Movement step down and hold elections. Even in the conservative camp there have been rumblings for the creation of a Finnish Monarchy. Mannerheim's hold on power grows more tenuous with every passing day...
