Introducing Day Number 17, the ’Downpour’ - Heavy Fighter

“The first wave came as the sun rose: siege ships soared hundreds of metres above us raining hellfire down below - and with our railguns still spooling up, the only option was to deploy the alert squadrons based here in advance for the specific purpose of challenging this threat. Although CoL high command knew the attack was coming, and had sent us as a vanguard whilst the main fleet was on its way, nothing could have prepared either side for the amount of blood that would be shed by day's end.

As hard as we fought, we could do nothing to stop the Defection’s advance on our supply fields. For every warship we took down, it seemed another two took its place, and when we thought the odds couldn’t get any worse, the DFN carrier “Tribute of Sol" had arrived with an armada of strike fighters at its helm. Our only option was to retreat back in hopes of rendezvousing with the Lunar Fleet. We had lost many that day, but come the end of this battle, they would lose more - this I promise.”
