I keep messing that up somehow- it's a Lifestyle addon, my bad I've added the parent mod in requirements.

@Werewolf. I think it's stand-alone, but maybe it requires the playable accoustic guitar mod (although no requirements are shown). Either way, it seems this is intended for you to "play" (either manually or automated) on an accoustic guitar in multiplayer settings (roleplay). I think all you'll need is the guitar and right-click it to figure it out. A little more effort on the description would be nice though, I'd agree. I'm probably also to blame why it is stripped down to the bare minimum right now. I apologize for that if that's the case. :)

I think keywords, at the level of basic Seach Engine Optimization (SEO). is the goldilockszone here. Thought about it a little what I would do in this case, and I'd probably stick with recognizable yet slightly jumbled track names (instead of Arabian Nights, nights of Arabia and such), and simply avoid using the first words that would come up in my mind when I wanted to find the songs.
Childhood songs is a good title though. Nostalgia factor. Not naming what movie songs are from might be the right way to go in this case. Not unrecognizable, clear enough when they accidentally find the mod in the list of mods to assume it's Disney, yet, not the first search results to pop up on the list of keywords their department would search for. At least I'd give a number of songs they can expect in the description. Depends on the audience (if any) you tried to reach.

It's up to you nonetheless. Either way. :bleach: :bleach: :bleach: and Happy Holidays

That said. I think I've over-complicated things a little, but the wisdom isn't lost on you. Half-measures are half-measures still though. I'll remove the comments in a few days.

Also, now it's unclear what the mod is about. It probably won't hurt to hint at the songs, like 'Arabian Night', instead of just naming it Aladin, or putting Disney in the title. It was more about being smart about it, instead of full stop censors. Or else I'd have said you should remove the mod (which I didn't, and is a futile effort). Maybe sprinkle in other songs to hide stuff in plain sight (also dispels concealment argument)? I get it takes time/effort. But now all people will either do is a) ask for the songs, b) don't download at all (which beats the purpose of sharing your work).

Tricky stuff nonetheless. Avoiding the tyrants is postponing the war to our own detriment (Tsun Tzu). Hopefully you're a real lawyer, ethically above board, willing to fight the good fight. We need those. I'm with that.

@TheIrishSailor I'm conflicted with the response, but somewhat happy you complied. I can't complain but considering your concealment statement we've basically made it a written confession. Which ironically is the only way that 'pursuit to prove concealment' from the prosecutor could hold any water in court, if it even applies in this context (since 'plausible deniability', and 'innocent until proven guilty' are exactly why such an argument should always fail in court without an actual confession of said intent to conceal "crimes". Good luck proving intent without one).

I'm not sure if you and me should just outright delete our comments in this case. Fair Use doesn't recommend you to accurately label your sources in case of conversions (like covers), but it's the same story about the stick and giving people room to swing it as before. If they already have the confession, all they need is a crime to enforce their will (on the platform).

Mind you- you're not wrong. Disney can get quite... irate as a company however they have suffered plenty of losses in court and in those instances it was usually in instances like this.

For instance- while Disney owns the trademarks to the likeness of their characters they very often do not solely own the copyright to the music in their movies- in fact one famous case (Lee v. Disney- 1990) saw Disney losing $90 for releasing a video cassette version of Lady and the Tramp. This version contained an unedited version of one of the songs Lee helped write.

These songs are acoustic covers that have nothing more than melody. There are no characters used in the likeness of trademarks that they own and there are no lyrics to accompany the music that is played.

The standard that Fair Use places on exceptions where Copyright law are concerned is met. However having stated all this and clearly expressed my intent I WILL change the name if that helps ease your worries for me <3

@Redacted I passed the bar in California- the hardest bar exam in the United States. I'm well versed in this area of law and if I were to rename it something else that would speak towards intent- naming it something more ambiguous would allow them the argument that I obviously did not have fair use in mind when creating this- as my attempt to conceal the contents of the mod by naming it something vague would most assuredly be their strongest argument in court against me if they were to try and litigate.

Beyond just that though- should I receive a formal DCMA I'll simply take the mod down, as they'll need to issue a DCMA before they could file anything in the courts that would be heard.
