Introducing Day Number 18, the 'Caelestis' - Monitor-Frigate

- Lore -

“Shortly before we arrived at the sight of our battle we were met with what remained of the alert squadron - only 7 remained of the 60 that were stationed; a stark indication of our enemies strength. The majority of our fleet was made up of monitor-frigates; small ships that carried heavy weapons that could hit from a far range. With them at our back we imagined this fight would be short, but we were gravely mistaken.

As we crossed into the dark side of the moon, we expected to be met with immediate fire from our enemy, however we were faced with nothing. There was no sign of any defection ships on any scanning equipment, or anything at all for that matter, and we soon found out why.

Without warning our altitude gauges suddenly spiked - from 1200m to 3000m then 10000m then incalculable. Our ships began falling rapidly; the sliver of sunlight fading as we plummeted. Our instruments all started failing, and power with it. The amount of time we had fallen, we should have hit the ground, but hadn’t. It just kept going. Reserved stress soon gave way to panic, then screaming, then finally complete silence.

We awoke, not even knowing or realising we had lost consciousness to begin with. Initially we thought the moon had somehow vanished from us, but chillingly the inverse turned out to be true. We appeared to have been the ones who travelled, and where to, we didn’t know. The stars seemed to be out of order, a mess, and the only thing visible was a planet that looked a little like earth and a signal faintly pulsing on our screens, beckoning us there.

With little else left to do, we cautiously proceeded into the light.
