A Puroresu journalist of some renown once described a rookie Ren Jung endlessly crashing his knees into the face of an opponent he had in a double underhook as a "devouring of the poor fool." The name stuck - Ren became the infamous Devourer as he eviscerated entire divisions of once-acclaimed junior, heavyweight, and tag team specialists.

The key to the move's effectiveness is its speed and its accuracy. In using both knees, The Devourer leaves his opponent no time to recover between heavy blows. And in forcing the opponent's head down to waist height, he forces everyone facing him to leave their nose and eyes open to attack for as long as The Devouring lasts.
