'It is said that when dark and light energies collide and coalesce, they eventually become one being. Some deities have been formed this way, but there has never been a deity of slime. When light and dark energies collided, at the time, they were made of slime. This caused the deity of slime, known as Slime God, to be born. To this day, he commands all slime, man-made or not."

The Slime God is a boss from Calamity that can be beaten in pre-hardmode (It took me 13 tries), but is easier in hardmode. However, the boss itself cannot damage you and is invincible until his two guardians, Crimulan and Corruption Guardian, have been slain.
