Introducing the ONRC - ‘Scythe’ - Grey Squadron Gunship

"Grey squadron was sent into combat where no other squadron could go, a fast but small group of experienced pilots sent in wherever they were needed to hold the line against enemy forces. Typically tasked with being the vanguard before more forces could arrive, this often meant standing between the enemy, and hundreds of innocents down below on the battlefield. As well as dropping troops onto the ground below, we commonly found ourselves ferrying civilian colonists to safety; carrying sometimes double the amount we arrived with out of the danger zones. Even with a few smaller warships by our side, that hardly mattered when the fighting got down to the surface. At times the battle for the regions below seemed unending - with it feeling like we were being called back as soon as we had liberated a sector, just to liberate it again. Despite this, we fight on no matter the odds, not for the destruction of our enemies, but for the welfare of the citizens below that need our aid; in defence of those who cannot defend themselves; without help and without thanks, pushing through the endless grey."

The Scythe is small interplanetary craft operating as both a gunship and a troop transport. The vessel has room for 1 pilot and 1 gunner, and can carry up to 4 personnel in the deck below. The scythe also features 4 frontal gatling guns, 2 assault cannons and 2 side mounted CTC gatling turrets. The ship flies from Atmospheric, Ionic and Hydrogen thrust; fuelled from 2 O2/H2 Generators and a large hydrogen tank and powered off 2 large batteries. The ship also features a rear mounted connector, and 3 retractable landing legs, making it stable and perfectly functional for planetary landing and refuelling as well as space.

The scythe was built way back when I was in a re-watching phase Star Wars Rebels as well as rogue one's battle of Scarif. The design takes a lot of inspiration from the U-wing as well as the Mandalorian fang fighter. I initially designed it to be a one off ship with its own unique paint scheme, but eventually incorporated it into my mainline faction as I felt it had similar enough greeble.

I have plenty more I will be releasing from ONRC as part of a "Gen II" revamp for the factions. Some designs include returning classics remade for the new style, but many are brand new ships altogether that I am excited to finally be releasing publicly.
