Description
Introducing the ONRC - ‘Mainstay II-B’ class Protected Cruiser

Only Sparks of the Future , Warfare 2 and Heavy Industry are required for basic craft functions; however all DLC are recommended for Airtightness, Interior Usage and full Aesthetic value.

"We stood the pride and joy of our fleet, and the terror to all those who opposed us; 40 Mainstay II-B class protected cruisers spread across the outer and inner sectors of Luma Major. Once ONRC stood a protectorate of the system; but with the outbreak of violence across the outer worlds churning the balance into chaos, battle lines needed to be drawn. In order to take back our system, Olympus High Command ordered a massive expansion of the fleet, and a conversion of all peacetime vessels (such as the Armoured Cruisers, and Patrol Craft) into wartime vessels. Many of the remaining Mainstay Cruisers had their support belts detached and several upgrades made to the designs in order to make them faster and more combat effective - namely bow mounted and heavy railgun turrets positioned on opposite ends of the hulls. Such a massive design philosophy change in the ONRC caused competing factions to begin matching in size and technological advancements - sparking an arms race the likes of which the system had never seen. The fleet expansion was highly criticized by many in the first days, however when the war broke out they were soon thankful to have their skies under the watch of Luma's custodians; the protectors of the last of Earth's remaining civilians, centuries onward."

This one I believe has been sought after for a while now by a couple of people.. the fabled ring-less mainstay; so much so that my friend Sevyrs made a few ships inspired by the concept with his aptly named "Omega Series". I did originally plan to release it soon after the original Gen I mainstay, however that never fully panned out, so I decided to make a version alongside the Gen II. Funnily enough this is likely more effective due to the lack of an explosive ring and way better forward firing arcs, and to date is probably my best combat design for this weightclass.

It was definitely one of the funner to work on, so I hope you enjoy using it as much as I did building it...

Enjoy, Omega!

Normally I enjoy a good ring-ship, but here I'd have to say this design works far better (both visually and mechanically) without it.

Well, the difference between an Armoured and Protected cruiser is belt armour, so I took that literally kekw
