"Be glad you're not the guy they're looking for. Poor bastard doesn't stand a chance. Sounds like they're calling in every CP unit in City 17!" — A Resistance Informant in the Canal Zone

Welcome to subscribe and use my second NPC mod and the first NPC mod of 2024!

This Metro Police themed NPC, based on ANP-BASE and Combine Units +PLUS+ codes, includes 17 NPCs from the Metro Police and Combine Loyalists, and one Combine soldier with new features. The AI has been improved, though limited by the game's core code, making it less challenging compared to the Combine forces.

NPC Introduction:

Loyal Citizen:
Fully brainwashed, these citizens completely embrace the Combine Empire ideology but have not yet joined the Metro Police. Even during the uprising, they cooperate with the Civil Protection and Combine, firing at their own people. They exhibit fanatical loyalty to the Combine but lack combat training and protective gear. The Civil Protection provides them with outdated weapons. Their combat strength is weak, but in numbers, they can be formidable.
Feature: None.

MetroPolice Arctic:
CP members equipped for polar environments, they assisted the Combine forces during the late search for the Borealis and in cold areas. They replaced the old SMG1 with the SMG2 submachine gun and are also equipped with updated pistols and assault rifles for intense uprisings.
Feature: None.

MetroPolice Armored:
Ordinary Metro Police with additional body armor, popular among Combine forces and CP Units in high-rebellion areas, significantly reducing casualties.
Feature: Armor protection for body parts.

MetroPolice Elite:
The most experienced and lethal members of the CP unit. If a CP officer has distinguished service but cannot be promoted to a Combine soldier, they continue to serve in the elite unit, suppressing high-intensity riots. Equipped with special AR2 rifles and switchable riot shotguns. AR2's rate of fire is reduced for better operability.
Feature: Armor protection for body parts, dual weapon system.

MetroPolice Engineer:
Engineering unit of the Civil Protection, responsible for deploying turrets in key areas. Engineers in snowy areas deploy jumping mines and have upgraded automatic weapons. Limited combat strength.
Feature: Deploying turrets, jumping mines.

MetroPolice Gunner:
Metro Police equipped with pre-war light machine guns, a cornerstone of firepower in standard Civil Protection teams, also operating Combine fixed machine guns. Equipped with better bulletproof vests and combat gear, they are more resilient and powerful than ordinary CP Units. Fortunately, they are rarely seen in low-intensity riot areas or regular Civil Protection patrols.
Feature: Smoke grenade throwing.

MetroPolice Hunter:
Special beacon-equipped CP Units active in the White Forest area as auxiliary units for the Combine forces. Upon spotting an enemy, they summon a Hunter through their beacon to coordinate attacks. Eliminate them quickly to avoid complications.
Feature: Summoning Hunters.

MetroPolice Medic:
Medical teams rush to the battlefield where Civil Protection casualties rise in uprising areas. Their skills and tasks are identical to Combine medics, except they belong to the Civil Protection. Experienced medics can deploy healing grenades and self-heal, increasing their and allies' survival on the battlefield.
Feature: Area healing, deploying healing grenades, self-healing.

MetroPolice Overseer Arctic:
Commanders of the Metro Police equipped for polar regions. Besides polar gear and new weapons, they're similar to their counterparts in other areas.
Feature: Same as regular Combine Overseers.

MetroPolice Overseer Elite:
Senior command units of the regional Metro Police, equipped with more powerful magnum or revolver pistols, or elite Metro Police custom pulse rifles. Compared to regular commanders, they have stronger combat abilities and higher authority. They boost and motivate Civil Protection around them, slowly healing themselves and their teammates, enhancing their endurance and tactical advantage.
Feature: Same as regular Combine Overseers, area healing, self-healing.

MetroPolice Reinforcer:
Communication units of the regional Metro Police, directly connected to local headquarters. In battle, they deploy support beacons, summoning armed Metro Police members to join the fight. The more frightening aspect is their continuous call for reinforcements, using their cowardice in combat to their advantage. Prioritize eliminating them and destroying their beacons, or be overwhelmed by endless reinforcements.
Feature: Support beacon deployment.

MetroPolice Riot:
Riot-equipped Metro Police, indicative of large-scale riots. Equipped with superior weapons and armor, including riot shotguns, assault rifles, submachine guns, and light machine guns. They also throw tear gas grenades to prevent riots from spreading. Approach them cautiously, using cover effectively.
Feature: Explosion resistance, tear gas grenade throwing.

MetroPolice Teleporter:
After the Combine acquired short-range teleportation technology from the Resistance, the Civil Protection also gained access, leading to this experimental unit. Equipped with experimental teleportation gear for high mobility, they can quickly move to areas inaccessible to other Combine forces or ambush from behind. They carry silenced submachine guns with low damage but high rate of fire for surprise attacks. However, the teleportation gear limits their protective capability, making them vulnerable before or during teleportation.
Feature: Short-range teleportation.

MetroPolice Wounded:
Metro Police who continue fighting with injuries and fatigue after City 17's fall or in high-intensity combat zones. Some are veterans. Due to logistical collapse, they use whatever weapons they find, even those of the Resistance or civilians, including confiscated grenades. Their resistance is often desperate. Prolonged combat experience leads them to self-heal and resist to the end.
Feature: Largest random weapon pool, grenade throwing, melee, self-healing.

Combine Reinforcer:
Communication units of the Combine forces, performing the same role as their CP counterparts, calling for reinforcements until death or enemy elimination. The difference is they summon fully armed Combine soldiers. They also fire grenades and explosives to buy time for reinforcements.
Feature: Firing grenades, support beacon deployment.

This error appears whenever the Metropolice Elite shoot their shotguns (In fact, I believe everyone using the same shotgun as the Metropolice Elite also cause the same error):

ANPlus [BASE] | Replacer Update] lua/effects/anp_shell.lua:121: attempt to compare nil with number
1. unknown - lua/effects/anp_shell.lua:121

It'll also start posting this error forever non-stop and mess with the console.

Question: Are the Retail-like things full-on required or just optional?
