The Argon were able to steal the Chimera's plans from the Split and began adding more shields to make it more durable. The Saeta Vanguard ultraheavy fighter is faster, has more crew and missile capacity, with 4 additional shields.

GRMS Kobayashi Maru
GramstonShip Kobayashi Maru

A Split miner converted by the Teladi into a popular Class III "neutron fuel" transport. The first of its series was commanded by Kojiro Vance, with 81 crew and 300 passengers. Storage 9000 m3.

"Kobayashi" means "small forest".

The word maru (丸, meaning "circle") is commonly added to the names of Japanese ships. There are several theories about this practice. The most common is that the ships were considered floating castles, and the word referred to the defensive circles or maru that protect the castle.

GRMS Aikoku Maru
GramstonShip Aikoku Maru

Was conceived by the Split as one more mining ship to operate in their sectors. However, due to the compromised geopolitical situation that the families were going through, it was transformed into a mixed passenger (274 crew) and cargo ship (36.000 m3), as well as an auxiliary cruise ship, with the dual objective of operating as a privateer and as a supply ship for the Fleet Combined in far quadrants. Thus it was captured and manufactured as a class of its own by the Paranid. It has also been later adopted by pirate factions.
