Description
Gatling Variant Here!
Missile Variant Here!

The F-121/A "Kestros" Light Fighter is one of the oldest flying designs in the Ikuyo Aerospace line. Created as part of the Emergency Space Fighter program in 2121, the X-121 excelled in all preliminary trials setting time-to-climb, atmospheric top-speed, and altitude records. Officially adopted as the F-121, the small but versatile fighter saw nearly uninterrupted service for a century owing to its powerful armament, ease of manufacture and maintenance and endurance. Ikuyo Aerospace is pleased to now offer a modernized, lightweight F-121/A featuring patented ice-only refuelling systems, enhanced hardpoint configuration options and increased redundancy. Fly yours today!

Armament
  • 6x Autocannons as Stock: All hardpoints conveyered and readily converted to accept gatling guns, railguns, assault cannons, rockets or hardpoints for PMW missiles.

Features
  • All Environments: Capable of flying on all planets/moons up to 3G.
  • Self-Powered Refueling: Featuring Ikuyo Aerospace's signature remote refuelling technology allowing the fighter to refuel and recharge its internal batteries using nothing but raw ice.
  • Low Cost, Low Risk: The F-121/A was designed foremost to be cheap and nigh expendable.
  • Survivable Design: Featuring auxiliary fuel-tanks, backup batteries, and typically double redundant systems - while not heavily armored, the F-121/A is capable of surviving hits most snub-fighters could not.
  • Survival Ready: Fully plumbed and survival ready. Printable by virtually any welder array, including those in the FS-17 "Ijichi". Comes with enough hydrogen for over 5 minutes of full-power combat flight time (or 25+ orbital ascents).

Datasheet
  • PCU: 1,999
  • Block Count: 231
  • Non-Armor Blocks: 107
  • Triangles: 182,236
  • Grid Mass: 20,576kg
  • Lifting Capacity: 3000 rounds of Autocannon Ammo.

Scripts
No scripts are included by default.

DLCs and Redistribution
This ship is vanilla and only uses the Decorative Blocks DLC for the cockpit block.

Special Credits and Notes
The F-121/A is my first attempt at a light hybrid fighter and its been a good learning experience. I'm pretty happy with the flight experience of the completed model, and it seems to survive pretty well compared with other fighters in its class. From the get-go, I wanted a sub-2000 PCU fighter that fit easily in the hangar bays of the FS-17 and the LCH-10 and this was what I came up with. I've got a few variants kicking around now, which mainly swap the wingboard autocannons for 2x assault cannons or 2x PMW missile racks.

Suggestions
I'm always open to suggestions or ideas so please let me know if you have any! As the "Light" fighter implies, there will also be a "Medium" and "Heavy" fighter coming out later if thats more your fancy, in addition to more specialized combat aircraft.

Yep thumbnail was edited by blurring the thruster trails. Space engineers doesn't handle particle trails too well but if you want a similar vanilla effect you can check out the Rocket FX mod.
