Description
A COLLECTION OF FACTIONS DEPICTING THE SECOND COLD WAR BETWEEN NATO AND CSAT

OVERVIEW
This is a collection of faction mods created by myself and other contributors, designed to fit into my Second Cold War setting. Full credit goes to the authors of the original mods and DLCs that these factions depend on—I simply create the faction configs.

Mods showcased in this collection:

US Army and 75th Ranger Regiment (2025): These mods offer a decently accurate depiction of the US Army in 2025.

Monarch Vanguard (MV): Set in Takistan according to the lore, this mod focuses on the proxy war between NATO and CSAT, emphasizing PMCs, paramilitary groups, and militias in an arid environment. While the setting is defined, you are free to adapt it as you see fit.

Project Sentinel (PS): Spanning both Takistan and Chernarus, Project Sentinel occurs in the same timeframe as MV but emphasizes conventional forces over Takistani factions and gucci gear PMCs.

Livonian Front (LF): Focusing solely on two NATO and LDF units, US Army's 10th SFG and the LDF Pathfinder Regiment, both tasked with quelling separatist activity and deterring CSAT involvement in Livonia.

Additional mods based on the lore are being considered, though none are currently planned.

TIMELINE
2011–2018: GREEN SEA FLASHPOINT
In the wake of Operation Arrowhead in 2011, NATO began a fragile effort to establish democracy in Takistan, while CSAT emerged as a rising global power following its first official conference in Shanghai. Almost immediately, CSAT began covertly supporting insurgent factions, local warlords, and Aziz loyalists in Takistan to undermine NATO’s influence.

Meanwhile, in the neighboring country of Chernarus, the CDF continued to suppress the remnants of the ChDKZ. By 2014, NATO increased its presence under the pretext of stabilizing the region. CSAT—particularly Russia—viewed this as an opportunity to foment unrest, quietly arming and organizing local actors to rebuild the ChDKZ’s strength and challenge NATO’s influence in Eastern Europe.

In Livonia, growing military cooperation between NATO and Livonian forces—despite Livonia not being a NATO member—drew quiet concern from CSAT-aligned states. Defensive exercises and forward troop deployments near the Belarusian border increased throughout the decade.

2019–2024: THE PROXY WAR
NATO gradually lost control over the New Takistani Army, as local and international support faded. The NTA adopted a stance of neutrality, believing a unified Takistan would be better served without foreign influence. Two new factions emerged: the NATO-backed Al-Thawra Brigade (ATB) and the CSAT-supported Takistani Liberation Front (TLF). While both major powers denied involvement, numerous leaks and eyewitness reports revealed that special forces units were training militias and conducting black ops across the region.

In Chernarus, a joint CDF-NATO offensive near the Ural Mountains scored a strategic victory against ChDKZ strongholds. However, widespread reports of civilian casualties led to international condemnation and domestic unrest. CSAT capitalized on the backlash, fueling pro-Russian sentiment in eastern Chernarus and amplifying political instability.

In November 2024, a mysterious paramilitary sabotage campaign destroyed key NATO infrastructure in Livonia. Russian Spetsnaz were suspected, though no group claimed responsibility. In response, NATO redeployed resources to secure Livonia, leaving Green Sea operations exposed—just as CSAT had intended.

2025–PRESENT: FRACTURED GAMBIT

JANUARY–MARCH 2025:
CSAT launched a full-scale incursion into northern Chernarus, combining artillery strikes, cyberwarfare, and rapid mechanized assaults under the pretense of liberating imprisoned political opposition leaders. NATO condemned the invasion and diverted assets from Livonia to the Green Sea. In Takistan, CSAT- and NATO-backed PMCs escalated their shadow war in the cities and countryside, causing widespread destruction. The NTA, facing increasing pressure, withdrew to the capital of Takmyr.

In Livonia, tensions escalated as both NATO and CSAT-aligned forces conducted live-fire exercises just miles apart, increasing the risk of accidental confrontation. Drone activity and border incursions intensified, with the Livonian Defense Force (LDF) holding defensive lines along the frontier. Though Livonia remained officially neutral, its territory had become a contested zone in everything but name.

APRIL–JULY 2025:
The peace effort in Takistan collapsed completely. Chinese drones and military advisors were reported training TLF-aligned fighters in the western provinces. In response, NATO deployed elements of the British Air Assault Brigades to reinforce the Takmyr garrison, authorizing offensive operations against the TLF.

Meanwhile, in Chernarus, fighting intensified. Cities like Elektrozavodsk and Berezino became battlegrounds in vicious block-by-block urban combat. The CDF, under-equipped and exhausted, began losing ground without constant NATO support.

In Livonia, forested border zones near Nadbor and Topolin saw frequent drone incursions, GPS jamming, and electronic warfare activity. Both sides remained in a state of heightened readiness as diplomatic efforts stalled.

AUGUST–PRESENT:
The UN approved a major NATO resupply and reinforcement operation in Chernarus. Fresh equipment and personnel stabilized the front, but CSAT forces entrenched themselves across South Zagoria in preparation for the approaching winter. The CDF-NATO coalition reinforced the western countryside, effectively freezing the frontline into a tense stalemate.

In Takistan, CSAT-backed militias and PMCs seized vital oil infrastructure in the central desert. NATO command began drawing up plans for a counteroffensive, but domestic pressure and mounting civilian unrest complicated the situation. Many Takistanis began calling for a complete withdrawal of both foreign powers.

In Livonia, the LDF maintained readiness as NATO forces prepared for potential escalation. Then, in Spring 2026, CSAT launched a full-scale invasion of Livonia, claiming the operation was necessary to establish a secure land corridor between Belarus and the Kaliningrad Exclave. CSAT justified the attack by alleging that NATO forces shot down two CSAT drones over Livonian territory—a claim NATO denied. Subsequent intelligence leaks suggest it may have been a false flag incident designed to justify the offensive.

The Livonian Front had officially opened, igniting a third major theater in the Second Cold War.

The Second Cold War rages on and teeters on the brink of global conflict.
