Description
The LT6M1 Pinaka is a Khertland light tank submitted as a competition for the CC1 Esturion replacement but lost to the LT5 Falx light tank. The main deciding factor was its armament choice with the 76 mm autocannon deemed inferior to the improved 152mm tank gun. Additionally, the Pinaka was also submitted for the new Forward Anti Defense System which required the new air defense system to have greater stopping power compared to the aging Trigon. The army also wanted it to be amphibious so it can provide air cover for its marine divisions. This led to the Pinaka being designed with amphibious capabilities in mind and so its weight was heavily restricted. This was despite utilizing large inflatable bladders to increase bouyancy. The lightweight vehicle meant the armor was another contributing factor to Pinaka losing to the Falx.

However its improved stopping power over the Trigon's 57mm autocannon and its amphibious capability won the FADS program albeit lost the Light Tank program. The Pinaka was praised for its responsive handling characteristics on land and water. While the lightweight chassis helps is acceleration and mobility on land, it made the vehicle highly unstable due to wave action. That being said, its speed on water is much slower than the Flemming series making it particularly vulnerable during the initial landing. These two latter factors resulted in the Pinaka being criticized for its poor amphibious capabilities.
Nonetheless, the Pinaka adds additional fire support capabilities to the marines which currently operates various variants of the Flemming platform including a 120mm light tank variant and a infantry fighting vehicle armed with a 57mm autocannon. The 76mm autocannon is so effective in the anti-aircraft role that the parallel Anura SAM system project was cancelled.
