Project Vulcan Demo Unit

Description
One of our staff recently visited Retro 64 HQ , where he was given access to a demo unit known only as PROJECT VULCAN. The developer allowed us to share the unit as long as we kept the inner workings a secret (for now). Hopefully, a full version will be released later this year!

User Manual

The device boots into TEXT MODE.

You can type letters and numbers (using the number line).

Move the cursor with the D-Pad or arrow keys.

Use TAB to skip to the right.

Use BACKSPACE to remove characters.

Use HOME to jump to the top of the page.

Press Right Shift to enable SHIFT MODE, which will let you skip around faster with the D-Pad and arrow keys.

Pressing HOME in shift mode will jump to the top of your document.

Pressing ESCAPE in shift mode will clear your screen completely.

There are currently three (6) working commands: CALC, DRAW, LOAD, SAVE, SONG, and TEXT.

Type the command and hit RETURN.

In text mode, type CALC [number1] [operator: keypad +, -, *, /] [number2] to perform basic math.

SONG will play whichever audio sample is loaded (comes preloaded). Enter SONG again to stop the music. SONG is meant to simulate listening to the radio. The loop will start in a random spot. Additionally, it never stops playing, but simply mutes the channel.

DRAW will enable COLOR MODE.

In color mode, use the number line to change the color of your cursor, and then press SPACE to draw on the screen.

While in color mode, press RIGHT CONTROL to enable free draw. It will color the screen wherever the cursor is. Since typing letters still moves the cursor in color mode, you can draw by typing if cntl is enabled.

While in color mode, press INSERT to fill the screen with the selected color.

While in color mode, text will not appear on the screen, but you can still type into the text buffer.

To return to text mode while in color mode, enter the command TEXT and hit RETURN.

While in either mode, use the SAVE command to save your work.

To recover your saved work, enter the LOAD command from either the text screen or the drawing screen.
