Within weeks of the war, the rapidly growing threat of mass produced enemy aircraft became apparent.
Cheap drones and planes headed to the rubbish heap were repurposed into nearly cost free attack vehicles.
Traditional surface-to-air defenses bled money, using missiles hundreds of times the cost of attacking vehicles.
To the commanders and soldiers at the front of the field, it became clear that a new weapon to combat this growing niche was needed.
The Supreme General's Office commissioned a new form of anti-air defense.
Production engineers and contractors rushed to complete their weapons, the first prototypes coming out in two weeks, being tested on the battlefield as soon as they were ready.
Of the twenty different weapons tested, one stood above the rest.

The all-terrain Hermes mobilizes in a fraction of the time of its contemporaries, its stabilized turret provides easy shooting on the move.
With twelve homing missiles in a pod, it has enough munitions to eliminate swarms of drones, or to put constant pressure on even more expensive jets.
The Hermes is controlled remotely preventing loss of life.
The unique arming system allows operators to ignore chaff dispensed by enemy targets.

Further experience with the Hermes led troops to find out it was also exceedingly good for anti-ground roles, it found use as an anti-tank weapon, guided rocket artillery, and even anti-infantry.
