Plattenbau Prefabricated Flats 1970s

This is a block of flats built using Plattenbau or Large Panel Construction. These buildings are common across the countries of eastern Europe, where the socialist governments made extensive use of this technique to house large numbers of people quickly.

This particular one is mostly based off of the WBS (Wohnungbauserie) QP 10 Geschosse A 103 design which is a design from the DDR. Although this particular type is quite rare, many similar ones can be seen in towns in east Germany and at least two of this type remain in Berlin.
