Sword Coast - Small Map

Description
Provinces: 114 land and 13 sea + Random cave plane

Disclaimer:

This is a test map is based on the Sword Coast setting of the Forgotten Realms, copyright Wizards of the Coast. The base image itself is by Mike Schley, and was featured in the module Scourge of the Sword Coast. Mike sells prints of his maps, which you can find here: https://prints.mikeschley.com/p530730153/h2C5CD88F#h2c5cd88f

This map is not intended to be balanced, and is probably unsuitable for multiplayer matches. But it's a good looking map for SP games!

Some Dom 6 mapping features are only partially enable-cold scales will visibly change provinces, however due to the nature of the base map, terraforming effects won't visibly change the map. Currently, a randomly generated cave plane exists, but I hope to replace it with a hand-crafted layer that better matches the look and feel of this map.

Current Features:

- Provinces with cities (Waterdeep, etc.,) are large, #nostart and have increased independent defenders
- Borders along cliffs cannot be passed. Such borders show up as purple in-game
- Most provinces have thematic names based on the map geography
- Fully fog of war compatible
- If a province looks large, it probably is, and will have larger population
- If a province looks small, the opposite applies

Upcoming Features:

- Border rework to clean them up, and make some roads/passes more visible
- Adding an entrance to the north of The High More (including editing the base image) to open that region up
- Replacing random cave plane with a custom "Underdark" plane

Enjoy!

Great idea, but map is too low quality if zoom in =(

Nice job! Getting that underdark layer to work will be a bear, but once you figure out a decent workflow, it's doable. Keep it up!

Hmmm. If I can find a higher resolution image for it, yes. If not, then we’re stuck with It, but I’ll look for a 4K map for the one I do.

Can you update the map to have a better higher resolution ? I'm in 4k and I find the map as to low quality. I mean when I'm zooming in it's blurry and hard to read.

I love the map! Keep going the work ! :steamhappy:

I came across it in my searches! If people wouldn’t mind that as the base image for a cave layer, I’m happy to use it.

Check out a DnD Adventure called "Escape from the Abyss", it has a underdark map; it's not perfect but it is what beneath the sword coast is supposed to look like.

100%! Finding one that works is on my list.

It needs an underdark map

Noted, and I’ll add that to my list. The province should be a kelp forest, but I must have input it incorrectly.

I have a handful of small fixes coming later today, as well as beefed up indies in the cities to make them a little more of a challenge. The changes will require starting a new game to see, once the update goes live.
