Description

Mod Description
Okay, now i know what your thinking when you first look at it but hear me out.

The Gameplay Reasoning
It was built for various futuristic/ sci-fi marine units and fans of project wingman & and ace combat, so it was designed to be a large, easily identifiable target from far far away in the skies, while packing enough firepower & defence systems to be a "boss fight". It has more then enough firepower to deal with any threats from land, sea, & air. Pilots will need to fight threw its defences and blow up its radar in order to destroy it before it nears the coast, as it's also designed to act as a off-shore base for amphibious operations much like a LPD, able to deploy its marines via landing craft, helicopters, and patrol boats while supporting them with a plethora of weapon systems, including nuclear. It does have a small interior, too small for any real interior combat, but should be enough to accommodate most units needs, and if needed the rooms and halls can always be swapped out and changed. There are also repair, rearm, and refuel vehicles under the floor of the vehicle bay & the flight deck to quickly get returning vehicles back in the fight. See change log for list of what the ship carries and how many.
NOTE: If the nuclear missiles are armed is it possible to prematurely set them off by damaging their silos, intercepting them when they launch, or even having the ship not vertical enough when they launch that they bump into the sides of their silos. therefor nukes are disarmed by default, switch to arm them can be found on the bridge.

Capabilities & "Lore"
The Sea Shadow II was built as a multi-mission amphibious warfare stealth ship with a semi-SWATH hull design. However unlike other SWATH designs that have open space between its struts allowing the ship to be raised above the water for increased speed & stability in rough waters, the open gap under this class of ship is taken up by large pump-jets (aka water jets) that wrap around its vehicle bay, allowing the ship to achieve higher acceleration & speeds then a conventional ship of its size could.

The vessel is heavily automated, so much so that it only requires a small skeleton crew to run & can commit more internal space normally used for crew to weapons & its marine passengers. The ships were also designed to fill the roles of naval gunfire support Instead of specialized ships designed for this role such as battleships that would need their own crews & supplies. Using naval artillery to provide fire support has largely lost favour in modern times compaired to other methods, so its relegated to a secondary role for the assault ships themselves.

Though dated, its battleship grade cannons are still seen as the best cheapest means of coastal bombardment, but it also carry's a modern cannon capable of using modern munitions to provide more support. The ship also has a variety of short, mid, and long range missile launchers, PDC's, & CIWS ensuring the ship can protect itself with layered walls of missiles and high explosive shells. Lastly for its weapons, the ship also carries a variety of Vertical Launch Systems designed for firing volleys of missiles, including nuclear, to overwhelm multiple ground or sea targets. And though better done with aircraft, the ship has torpedoes & depth charges for destroying submarines if needed.

With all that firepower any threat in its area of operation on land, sea, or air should been obliterated by the time the ship gets close to the shore to finally offload its compliment of marines. Primarily by deploying a large amount of amphibious landing craft, although invariably they also have the capability to operate helicopters and VTOL plane/ drones. The ship also carries 2 small patrol craft escorting landing craft, & river patrol were the ship cant go.

Lastly, as a stealth ship its not invisible to radar, it just looks smaller & is harder to detect. But if detected, the ship has multiple passive defensive systems such as chaff launchers and a large antenna on the bow that creates a decoy to help divert incoming munitions or cause them to fall. Though easily destroyed, it is a relatively small hard to hit especially on a moving vessel.


How To Modify
All scripts (codes) to make them work can be found in the objects or units init box. Also, all units & objects called upon by the scripts have a name. If you wish to change somethings name you must make sure you also change the name in any script that uses it. If you wish to make a minor change like replacing one unit or object for another, all you need to do is copy & paste the scripts and name from the object you wish to replace, into the object your replacing it with. The same goes for major changes that could possibly replace every object. If you want to make multiple of the same type, you will also need to change the names of any object with a new name and any name in its scripts relating to it.

Questions & Answers
Q: Why isn't this "mod" showing in the launcher/ how to spawn it?
A: This isn't a "mod", its just a composition, and wont show in your launcher. You'll find this composition in the editor, once there you need to press the groups key or F2 then click on the composition icon. last pic in the slideshow above will show were that is.

Q: Why is it spawning all broken up?
A: You need to click off Vertical Mode & Surface Snapping before spawning any comp, last pic above shows were to find it. Also rotating it in the editor can cause it to come apart.

Q: Do i need all the mods?
A: No, you need the seats mods for chairs to sit in, and CRAM & iron dome mods allow for defence systems. everything elce is needed for it's hull.

Q: What maps were used for the pics?
A: All default maps
New York City + City Of Sin

Q: Why is the tutorial of the battlecarrier not battlecruiser?
A: Functionally they're the same, you deploy the ships or change the vehicles they carry the same way. only instead of deploying the ship from a random spot on the bridge, there are switch's located around the the bridge the players will need to toggle.

Known Bugs & Issues
- Because arma is not built for it, all of the ships defence systems are "unreliable" at best, hence the excessive amount. They also have a chance to target outgoing munitions.
- If the ship tries to launch missiles while in a full turn, the nuclear missiles can hit the sides when they launch and blow itself up.
- AI drives the ship like they're drunk
- CIWS & interception missiles wont fire at modded munitions not using "MissileBase" "RocketBase" "ShellBase", but can be set to, see their mod pages for more details.
- Lots of places to fall off or threw, just look at it. i'm not goona cover it in hundreds of guard rails, just don't be dumb and you'll be fine.
- Weapons move out of place when rotated in editor
- AI turrets don't reliably deploy chaff
- Under water parts look horrible
- The flight deck is a lift, if you lower it its gone

you cant manually control the missiles but it will automatically target & shoot at anything you mark with a lazer designator, or you can use a UAV terminal to control the launcher itself & choose what its shooting at

well its not a true sea shadow, were as the real life original sea shadow was just a small experimental test bed, this is meant to be a "what if" they took it to the next level and built a ship meant for service around the design & features. basically its more like that bad guy stealth ship in 007

I saw "sea shadow" and then "Futuristic" and thought fuck yeah. Look forward to 1) trying this out and 2) (sorry) reading this description XD Thanks for this! I have only seen the sea shadow in one other game, and as I type this, the first I've seen in arma 3.
