Historically Accurate Religious Doctrines

Description
Changes certain religion's doctrines to be more historically accurate. You have to start a new game.

Christianity
Homosexuality is now a crime
Deviancy is now shunned
Consanguinity is now Close-kin Taboo

Norse
Homosexuality is now shunned
Deviancy is now accepted
Witchcraft is now accepted
Clerical function is now control
Clergy is now lay clergy

In regards to homosexuality - There is no evidence or mention of anyone ever being executed for it, so it shouldn't be criminal. If you think there is, prove it.
In regards to deviancy - There is no evidence of non-reproductive sexual acts being shunned at all.
In regards to lay clergy - There is evidence to suggest Gothi were also secular rulers. See Glavendrup stone.

Baltic
Deviancy is now accepted
Witchcraft is now accepted
Religious pluralism is now pluralistic

Slavic
Homosexuality is now shunned
Deviancy is now accepted
Witchcraft is now accepted
Marriage type is now polygamous
Religious pluralism is now pluralistic

Taoism
Gender is now male dominated
Marriage is now concubines

Tengrii
Witchcraft is now accepted

Islam
I didn't modify anything because you should use the Muslim Enhancement mod.

It's difficult to research the doctrines of the pagan faiths, if you have any suggestions try to provide some evidence.

I did commit a couple hours to researching every religion on the list. Stating sources, however, would be too much work for a free mod few will even see. But, if you have ANY evidence that any change I made is historically inaccurate you are welcome to post it and I will have a look at it. I read the link you sent and it did not contradict any of the changes, effeminate men were shunned but not executed, unlike in Christian Europe. Just to be clear, dueling for your honor is not the same as a capital sentence for the crime of homosexuality. Literally all sources I found on the topic either did not deny the existence of witchcraft and unconventional sexual practices or outright confirmed it; these being "heathen" sources, of course.

Can just add to Saint Gray. https://norsemythology.substack.com/p/loki-gender-and-sexuality-in-norse

I would also like to have sources listed here if it's "historically accurate" like you claim it to be.

The Norse did not accept witchcraft, and there is evidence homosexuals received capital punishment. I'm sorry but this is a pretty inaccurate mod.

Sorry if its already on your radar, but while it's technically playable, this mod does need an update to the new version since religions all now have a funeral doctrine and playing with this mod removes that from them.

True. I'm gonna try to fix it, but my knowledge of the religion is not that good.

Taoism should definitely have concubines and male dominated. Not sure what Paradox was thinking by making it otherwise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concubinage_in_China https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_ancient_and_imperial_China

"Deviancy" in the game basically means masturbation and kinky stuff, which the pagans did not have any problem with.
Hermóðr 12 Feb, 2024 @ 1:48pm
This is definitely not accurate, this is just making all non-christian religions into deviants.

I feel like a proper representation of Norse (and a lot of other cultures') ideas about homosexuality would require some sort of modeling of like, basically "unmanly men" or whatever. There's a common pattern where its acceptable for gender-conforming men to have sex with certain "effeminate" men who have a sort of marginal position in society. Maybe some personality trait or something.
