Description
~~ Lore ~~

The Bosphorus is the smallest commercial starship on the market, and despite that also the largest internally in its size class! Sporting 3 whole decks, this compact starfarer comes equipped with either a dedicated medbay or a medical cubby depending on the model, with only the Essential variant housing 3 whole cryo chambers instead of just 1! Though all have 4 beds as standard, additional cryo chambers were simply not seen as utterly essential across the platform; but worry not!

The Bosphorus comes in 3 variants; the Essential, Clipper, and Industrial! The Essential is for the discerning starship crew looking to take to the stars right while sporting the brand new LW-120B warp drive! Designed for sparse yet big bursts of distance, the LW-120B can cover 4,000km in a jiffy but takes up to 8 minutes to recharge between jumps. Due to the smaller size of the craft, the warp drive required a full impulse manifold at the stern of the ship to maintain stability during jumps. While the Essential and Industrial have 4 onboard reactors to compensate for this large fuel hog on such a small frame, the Clipper only has 2 to make space for its massive cargo holds.

While the Essential is made to chart the stars and the Clipper's your run of the mill freighter, the Industrial is somewhat unique. Fitted with a multi-tool service mount at the fore, this model can equip either a drill, grinder, or a welder to add versatility to this ship's impressive arsenal - the kicker of this model is that we managed to fit 2 large refineries in the belly of the beast! Equipped normally with 2 yield modules each, these can be easily re-equipped with the desired module(s) on the fly by accessing the service bay in the ventral deck of the ship.

The reason for the heavy firepower on such a relatively small craft is the increase in piracy surrounding the Mars-Europa system where our business partners at Midori Consolidated Industries are loosely based, as an attempt to free up resources by not hiring escort fighters for freight runs.

Last but not least, the Bosphorus series also has backlit faction boards on the sides to easily identify yourself from further away without blasting your beacon to the void, which may attract unwanted attention.

You can just not build the jump drive, you can just build everything but that.

This wasn't meant to be the "first large grid miner", it's a self-contained industrial starship at a modest size.

Imagine as if you want to build your first large grid miner that can multi task but you can't build a jump drive on it just yet, something compact and cheap to build that can you can upgrade at a later stage.

Is there a version which is cheaper to build that has 2 refineries and a drill

They all have jump drives, so I'm not sure what you mean.
