OP Pretender

Description
Gives a pretender of your choice 10 in all magic paths, 10 dominion, it costs nothing and doesn't really age. Also makes the pretender selectable for all nations and makes regular units pretenders if chosen. This lets you do whatever you want with regards to blesses and scales.
Intended for single player, never tested it on multi player.

Unfortunately, it requires some manual setup since there is no easy way to pick which pretender your want to buff, so there are a few steps you need to follow:
1. Find the ID of the pretender (or unit) you want to buff. Go to Dom6 Mod Inspector ( https://larzm42.github.io/dom6inspector ), open tab "unit" on the left, type in the name of the pretender, and set the check mark for "advanced". Now, if you mouse over a unit, you will see the "Unit id" on the top left of the unit card. Note down this ID.
2. Install the mod via the steam workshop and figure out where it is. Open the game and go to "Mods" in the main menu. Right-click on the "OP Pretender" mod and take note of the folder path there (something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\xxxx\xxx"). Now quit the game and open this folder.
3. Open the file "OP_Pretender.dm" in the folder. The sixth line of the file starts with "#selectmonster 3650". Replace the number 3650 with the unit ID of your pretender from step one. Save the file.
4. Run the game as normal. The pretender you chose is now OP. Keep in mind that the pretender in question is now in the top row with the high-dominion gods. It should cost nothing and have 10 in all paths.



Based on an older Dom5 mod I found somewhere years ago.
I couldn't really find an easier way of doing the pretender selection other than manually editing the file after installing the mod. If anyone has suggestions for streamlining the process, I would be happy to make adjustments.

I've always been looking for a way to upgrade regular units to Pretenders or to select regular units/heroes as Pretenders.

Doesn't seem to work with Pretenders that can shapechange. Is there a fix, or does in need to be typed a specific way to work?

adding #ainorec works to keep the AI from using the modified unit.

You should be able to buff any (player) pretender paths after game start with events without anyone manually editing anything, but this will not effect available blessings.

Very nice. I figure if I just use it for a hero unit that spawns for the empire I use It ought not to be too much of a problem. Thanks for the update

@Grok: I made a new version that allows you to do that. Any unit ID you enter will become a pretender and can be chosen by any nation. Heroes, regular units, whatever.

Bear in mind that choosing a commander or hero will also give regular copies of that commander/hero 10 in all magic paths and the associated bonuses (does not happen to regular units). So if one of the other nations in your game has access to your selected commander, you might be in trouble.

Is it possible to use this mod with any unit? Could I use a hero units I.D. and create a pretender out of a hero unit?
