the main issue without this mod is that the Facial Animation Experimentals mod will override the head shapes of the Vanilla Textures Expanded content, so this fixes that. some of the new faces that the Experimental mod adds are also disabled since i don't have the skill to redraw them in the correct style
you should look at the Facial Animation Experimentals page if you want to see the full feature set, but the Cliffs Notes version is the tears you mentioned at high pain levels as well as darkening the area around the eyes at low mood. the other stuff the main mod brags about aren't as noticeable
