Operation Thanatos - Day 10

In 1 collection by Se'Kara
AAF - Operation Thanatos
11 items
Description
Fortress Strigla.

Bastiaan Stathis and his men have been fighting against the CSAT invasion of Altis for many months.

AAF armoured forces are gathered at Paros.
In a cruel twist, CSAT forces now hold the North Eastern area of Altis. The very location on which Stathis and his men landed so long ago.

Stathis must take out the remaining strongholds as he moves North.
Resistance must be dealt with without mercy.

Areas of interest will be marked on your map as they are detected.

Bastiaan has been assigned control of armoured vehicles in Paros

IN BASE

While in a friendly AAF Base, you may enter any available vehicle.
The crew, and in the case of APC's and IFV's the attached squad, will join Bastiaan.

If you leave a vehicle while in a friendly base, the squad will leave you and you may choose an alternative vehicle.

Once helo transport becomes available, an alert will pop up as you are approaching a base while in a helicopter.
Ensure that you issue a 'disembark' order to your squad or they will leave your group on landing and become trapped in the helicopter.

LEAVING BASE

On leaving the base, you are able to exit the vehicle and command your squad to dismount and act as normal.

(There is currently a small issue with switching seats within the vehicle - you will need to jump out and back in again after leaving the base to ensure that you can take gunner/commander/driver control as needed - I'm looking into this, but I think it's a side-effect of ensuring that the crew start in the correct positions with moveinGunner, etc)

Yeah - I was going for sprawling epic - it's not to everyone's taste. "After Dark" is more small squad based and generally shorter missions.

Mission accomplished! At the last objective the support options were not available. The Artillery was out of range and the CAS jet was greyed out and could not be selected. Other than that, not exactly my type of mission, it reminded me a bit of BIS last mission on Arma 2's campaign. However, it was fun nonetheless! Thanks Se'Kara, on wards to "After Dark"!

yup

Oh, there's still a NATO one on the beach. Should I go there?

Had you done the 2 missions on the coast to the West? There's a couple of flags to check out - one CSAT, one NATO?

I shall have a look - you're supposed to get a marker to meet with command after that part.

Se'Kara, I'm finally back to playing your missions :) I played the mission through to Molos (the northernmost town?) I got the all clear message but afterwards I did not receive any following instruction. I suppose the airfield is the last objective since I saw three jets parked there but nothing else. Seems like I'm stuck.

Just a thought - I intended to go back and tweak a message you receive after clearing the power station, and I can't remember if I did - if not, it's not very obvious, but be aware that a helicopter attacks from the north east. You'll need to be ready, as those missiles can really ruin your day...

Let me know of any problems - this is a long mission, so unless it's game-breaking, I'll only be updating once a week as I don't want to mess with people's saved games...
