Description
SCOTLAND (JAMES VI)
Unique Trait: Reulis and Cautelis
Earn Golden Age Points whenever a non-Military Great Person is born based on overall Great People Point generation. During a Golden Age, Engineer, Merchant, and Scientist Specialists generate Great Writer Points.

Unique Unit: Makar
The Makar is the unique Scottish replacement for the Great Writer under James VI. Great Works of Writing created by a Makar increase the length of Golden Ages by 5% each (up to 50%). Any Makars born during an active Golden Age will lengthen that Golden Age equal to the bonus from Great Works of Writing created by them. Use Makars to elevate the culture and prestige of your civilization's arts.

Unique Building: King's College
The King's College is a Medieval-era building replacing the University for Scotland under James VI. In addition to boosting a city's Science output, the King's College allows Engineer, Merchant, and Scientist Specialists in the city to generate their respective base Great People Points even when unworked. When worked, they generate an additional point each. These points also contribute to Great Writer Points during a Golden Age with the Reulis and Cautelis Unique Trait. Construct King's Colleges in cities with your greatest number of specialist Buildings.
PATCHNOTES
  • v4
  • UA no longer grants Golden Age Points from Great Generals or Great Admirals. GAP gained is now based on the Great People rate in your cities.
  • Great Writer Points from UA now factors in Great People modifiers for Engineers, Scientists, and Merchants.
  • Highlander UU has been replaced with the Makar UU, replacing the Great Writer. Each Great Work of Writing created by a Makar increases the length of Golden Ages by 5% (up to 50%) and any Makar born during a Golden Age are moved to a the nearest city with an available slot, if possible.
  • Removed Hills priority since the Civ no longer receives the Highlander.
  • UB is now called the King's College. It no longer has a Great Writing slot. Instead, it generates Engineer, Merchant, and Scientist points when their specialist is unworked, or an extra +1 when it is.
  • Changed the peace and war themes.
  • Added new city list thanks to Lordie and DarthKyofu.
  • Removed the modifications to the Celt city list.
  • Added new Civ icon and updated colours thanks to DarthKyofu.
  • Various text, supports, and code standardizations/optimizations.
  • Fixed black outlines on Civ Icon and Unit Flag alphas (where applicable).
  • Fixed issue where the ambience in the leaderscene overwrote the music (where applicable).

Since the update, James VI no longer appears in my player list. Too bad, I love Scotland, I love playing Scotland. I would be extremely grateful for any tips!

Thanks for the update. I just finished a game as Scotland. 3 Makars were born during the golden age and I noticed that my golden age turns increased from 10+ -> 50+ -> 344 -> 2730+.

Is this expected?

this mod messes up Vox Populi's great work optimization feature

I like playing as Scotland, but one thing I was noticing was that this mod seems a bit over powered. During my playthru I was able to build the wonder that gave me extended golden ages, and with that I was almost never off of golden age. When it would end I was usually just a few hundred away from starting another one, and even a few times I was already over the target number to start a new golden age. Other than that, the rifleman change didn't seem too useful as my tech level passed by rifleman so fast. Also, the Scotland color was too close to Siam. Playing as Scotland was great tho. :pug:

SCOTLAND FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

The game crashed when the "cultural development" event showed up and I accepted it.

Slightly underwhelming, in my opinion. But this mod works. Especially if you wanna have a marginalized player who get squeezed up into the highlands in your game.

Odd, The Mod does not show up in Nation Select.
Foxxedhound 4 Nov, 2016 @ 9:28pm
But too be perfectly honest, the Highlander sounds useless if your nation isn't hilly at all, same as the Norweigan Ski Infantry if you didn't have snowy or hilly lands.

If this mod didn't include Highlanders, this mod would be useless.
