Description
Republic of Chernarus

Brief History
The Republic of Chernarus, more commonly known as Chernarus, is a post-Soviet republic in the Green Sea region, near the Caucasus Mountains. Chernarus is bordered by the Russian Federation to the north along the Black Mountains, Takistan to the west and the Green Sea to the south and east. The capital, Novigrad, is situated on the coast of the Burnaya river delta in the south-west of the country, a short distance from the Takistani border. The Burnaya and Svetlaya rivers form the core of modern Chernarus, giving rise to major cities such as Kirovograd and Belozersk.

Other major settlements can be found along the length of the nation’s coast, such as Primorsk, Miroslavl’ and Chernogorsk. Several islands in the Green Sea fall under the sovereignty of Chernarus, most notably the islands of Utes, Moschnyi and Lyutyi. Chernarus has been inhabited from at least the 5th Century, with Slavic peoples settling the area sometime around the 11th Century. Various dukedoms controlled the region until the nation was united in the 13th Century by Taras Kozub. Chernarus joined the Russian Empire in 1631, and only regained its independence upon the dissolution of the USSR in 1991

Chernarussian Navy
The Chernarussian Navy [Green Sea Flotilla] is an integral part of the country's Defence Forces, responsible for protecting and safeguarding national maritime interests. Its main mission is to ensure security in Chernarus's territorial waters and contribute to the wider defence of national sovereignty and peacekeeping in the maritime environment.

The Chernarussian Navy has a diverse fleet of modern warfighting vessels, To include: Grisha-class corvette's, Point-class cutter's, Stenka-class patrol boat's, Matka-class missile boat's, Yevgenya-class minesweeper's, LCM's, LCU's and LCT's. These ships are operated by highly trained and experienced crews, who undergo rigorous training to maintain their competence at sea and on land. The Chernarussian Navy constantly strives to modernize its fleet, enhance its warfighting capabilities, and remain prepared to respond to any maritime disasters or situations that may occur. Its dedication and professionalism that make the Navy a fundamental pillar for the defence and protection of Chernarus's maritime interests.

15th Marine Brigade
The 15th Marine Brigade was originally apart of the 177th Marine Regiment headquartered in the Novigrad Oblast from 1922 to 1991 as the '15th Naval Infantry Battalion'. During the collapse of the USSR, the 177th Marine Regiment Headquarters was repositioned to Astrakhan, Astrakhan Oblast; but the 15th Naval Infantry Battalion stayed to look after the transfer. In the Chaos that followed the senior members of the Battalion fled and new, younger Chernarussian officers took up command. With the formation of the Republic and the CDF, the now Colonel Georgy Konstantinovich stood up the Battalion again as the '15th Marine Brigade'. With new colours the 15th stands firm as the Chernarussian Navy's best weapon against all enemies. The Brigade's words are: "Dum vita est, pugna est" (Latin for: Whilst there is life, there is fight)
