Valkyrie is a warrior maiden in Norse mythology. She soars on a winged horse over the battlefield and decides which of the warriors who died in battle will go to the heavenly palace - Valhalla.

Valkyries are depicted in armor, helmets with wings, with shields and spears. According to legend, the shine of their armor causes the northern lights to appear in the sky.

Sometimes the Valkyries are given the right to decide the outcome of the battle, and sometimes they only carry out the orders of Odin. In myths, Valkyries are the daughters of Odin.
