If the original author requests it, I will remove this update.

A neat little mod from the early days, updated and enhanced with the latest Rimworld features.

The radio has its own separate joy type, and various visual and audio effects like the television.

"Invisible airwaves / Crackle with life / Bright antennae bristle / With the energy
Emotional feedback / On a timeless wavelength / Bearing a gift beyond price –
Almost free ..." - Rush, "The Spirit of Radio"

--

Original mod notes (0.17):

This is a simple addition of a new joy item, Radio.
The radio has to be researched by your pawns in a new research tab.
There is very limited joy furniture, especially early game so thought of this simple radio.
Not really an exciting mod, but does its job nicely.
The radio requires power(100) and costs steel[50, was 70] and a component to build.
Pawns have to have hearing to listen to the radio, so
look after them ears.

Does this work for 1.6?

Well I gotta get this mod now, with my favorite Rush song there. I was actually lookin for something to flesh out long distance communication, but yeah, radios fit the space western game so well.

I'd run a radio station if I could, promote my colonist's music. Get silver selling albums, live shows for tribals.

Good ideas for an inevitable update.

I think that you should ditch the research project bloat and simply have it require Electricity. That would be a life saver for people with hundreds of Mods, or me with a thousand one hundred, because that adds up. (I'd also make it require Stuff.)

That's flattering, but my skills are nowhere near his level, or of some of the other modders out there. I just try to do what I can, where I can, and keep old stuff going that deserves to live on, and maybe improve it a litte along the way ...
