proudly introduces:
The Ion Beam Point Defense Turret.



This is a standalone version of my ion beam PD turret.
Do not use with my rebalance mod. The turret is included.



The Ion Beam PD turret is a deck mounted high tech system designed to efficiently defeat multiple incoming projectiles. By applying damage to targets at the speed of light, the Ion Beam PD no longer expels damage potential into empty space. It also boasts a superior target tracking system enabling it to shift to new targets instantly with a 90% success rating.

Due to a few outlier incidents, a crew member is required during operation to ensure the in-bedded AI targeting system does not gain sentience.

  • Instant hit point defense.
  • Deck mounted turret.
  • Rapid turret traversal and target acquisition.
  • Low damage, but highly efficient.
  • Requires 1 dedicated crew member.
  • Needs 1 to 2 crew to maintain battery usage.

Ok, I am, for the record, stating. This mod, and it's lore was intentionally designed around the fact these turrets, in testing, target enemy crew with a degree of intensity only describable as a hatred for humanity. Hench the joke about it being an enslaved AI that needs a kill switch operator.

Game dev in me: This strange intensity for target acquisition was intentionally not avoided because of this. No weapon should be without it's quirks, and this mod is no exception.

It might be a mod conflict but for me these seem to try to torture enemy crew after their ship is destroyed. When the crew is left floating in space in their EVA suits the beams just are constantly slow-roasting them but never killing them.

A very good turret. From the texture, it looks very small. Can we set its height to a non high turret so that it can be penetrated by large turrets without killing each other

Its pretty anoying that the Shots of Big Cannons get cought on the Laser PDs. It makes it impossible to utilize the PDs Properly. Can you change that?

The reset animation before the turret turns to a new target mixed with the beam continuing to fire for a short period after killing a target made the beam animation extremely jerky.
