[WYD] Convert Leather

Description
THIS MOD IS FOR USE PRIOR TO ADDING OWLCHEMIST'S SIMPLE CHAINS: LEATHER MOD TO OLD SAVES. THIS WILL PREVENT LOSS OF MATERIALS, AND SUBSEQUENT RED GRAPHIC ERRORS

Owlchemist's Simple Chains: Leather has a great functionality, which changes up how leather is obtained. In doing so, many leathers have been merged into subgroups of a single type. When you decide to use the mod, it's fine for new save games. But what if you want to play your old save files?

Unfortunately, it has little built in support for old saves. The main types will convert over, but all your sub-group leathers will be sucked into a black hole of non-existence, resulting in ugly red X error graphics, which can only be removed by entering Dev mode. So sad!

Furthermore, sub-group leather apparel will become a "generic leather" type with zero benefits, and lowered sale value to a mere pittance. They can't even be recycled, as this just produces more red error graphics!

But what if you do not want to use Dev mode? What if you do not really know how to use it? What if you're running that one achievements mod, and do not want to be called a Cheater?!.

Convert Leather has your back!

This mod adds tailor recipes that let you convert those sub-group leathers into their main group core. For example, rhino, and elephant leather can be converted to bearskin, as these are sub-groups of bearskin - as can be seen in the information below (the bold leather is the core, the subsequent leathers are sub-groups:

• Hide ➔ Leather
(Was plainleather, dog leather, wolfskin, panthera fur, camelhide, pigskin)

• Thick Hide ➔ Thick Leather
(Was bearskin, elephant leather, rhinoceros leather)

• Soft Pelt ➔ Soft Fur
(Was lightleather, chinchilla fur, foxfur)

• Heavy Pelt ➔ Heavy Fur
(Was bluefur, heavy fur)

Please Note:

This mod is meant SOLELY for use with old saves, and should be disabled for new games. This mod does not work retroactively, as one can not pick up red error tiles - make sure your save file pre-dates installation of the Simple Chains: Leather mod!

Also Note: Guinea pig fur has been added to the soft fur category for this mod purely for the purpose of avoiding red X errors. In SC:L guinea pig fur is not part of any core group.

Remember: Disable the mod after use! Once your save file has been prepped for adding Simple Chains: Leather, you will no longer need it. It probably will not break anything, but there will be no new leathers to covert!

Please note, if you have a wall of screaming red errors, please either ignore them (not recommended) or disable all your mods, and repopulate them to remove any issues caused by the name changes in the 7th April 2024 update

Just gonna re-post my comment on Owlchemist's page here regarding other faction/town inventories:

While my mod can be used to convert your own inventory of leathers, it can not do anything for leathers that exist in the inventory of other factions/towns in the world. As mentioned in the screenshot below (please do not remove the link this time Steam) Owlchemist will need to do something about this for his mod to be truley compatible with old saves.

For example, either converting all leathers in the subgroups rather than just their parent, or wiping the leather content of every other faction in the world on the first install. Whether these errors will pose an issue or not, iunno - but better to be safe right? The only other option would be to manually remove them all from the save, and that would be painful.
