Description
What Is this?
This mod was originally inspired by the Give Soldier command that Musashi included in RPGO and other mods. I found that mod had an issue where the Rookie generated wouldn't promote if sent on a Covert Action before a mission.

So I fixed that, but decided I wanted a failure state as well...
... so then RustyDios got involved and feature creep happened !!

The New Command: MEME_GiveSoldier

Usage
  • MEME_GiveSoldier Firstname Lastname - will search your character pool for this character as an xcom soldier, and create them if they exist. If not found, or not an xcom soldier (templar etc) it will FAIL.
  • MEME_GiveSoldier Firstname Lastname true - If no matching xcom soldier is found, a new randomised Rookie will be created with the set First/Last Name
  • MEME_GiveSoldier Firstname Lastname true CharacterTemplate - will search your character pool for this as character a (Xcom/Templar/Reaper/Spark/Skirmisher/Proxian/etc) soldier, and create them if they exist. If not found, or not that soldier type, a new randomised FactionSoldier will be created with the set First/Last Name
  • MEME_GiveSoldier Firstname Lastname true CharacterTemplate # - As above, but sets the soldier's rank.
Credits

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS, YOU SIR ARE A GOD SEND, I LOVE YOU, THANK YOU FOR THIS, I cannot believe I haven't found this earlier, it makes me so happy, especially knowing that I can use this if the game decides to make one of my non Dark VIP soldiers a Dark VIP for no reason because of the MOCX mod

Characters added to the pool midcampaign should be found fine (I do this frequently for my streamed campaign). Make sure you have their soldier type correct if they are faction soldiers.

Is there a way to refresh the character pool mid-campaign? I'd like to add some community soldiers but they are not found when I use the GiveSoldier command, even though I can find them in the Character Pool menu.

That makes good sense. Thank you for your time

Unfortunately... as cool as the mod is, if LWotC is involved in any way... the outcome result will most likely be the same

The better option would be to drop LWotC from your mod list, and then rebuild a mod-list around Covert Infiltration, using Point Based Not-Created Equal, which this mod should be able to interact with just fine... I think

Or just accept LWotC is exactly what it says it is, a full game overhaul. And live with the choices, decisions and things it forces to happen in it's own way.

That makes sense. I am noticing that LWotC's method for assigning stat randomization is inconvenient for other mods as well, so that is a fact of life. Do you by chance know of anything similar that could work?
RustyDios  [author] 18 Aug, 2024 @ 12:14am
Is there a way? :: Yes
With LWotC's... :: Unlikely as LWotC has completely different methods for handling things that making this work with it, will break it for every other form of play ...

Is there any way to make this mod compatible with LWOTC's Not Created Equally? I find it does seem to work with the WOTC version of NCE, but when used in LWOTC characters are assigned the default stats (no NCE rolls)

Answered my own question, works at least with Allies Unknown, which uses the CharacterTemplate for its additions, so one just has to look up how each mod named that.

Do you know how/if this works with Mods that add non-human soldiers, like Allies Unknown or Playable XCOM 2 Aliens?
