About Section 31

This was the first starship built by the Special Covert Operations section of Starfleet, 'Section 31', an organization which claimed to protect the security interests of United Earth and, later, the United Federation of Planets that was formed prior to 2151 when the Enterprise NX-01 was launched.

The name, Section 31, was taken from the Starfleet Charter: Article 14, Section 31. The article, according to agents, allowed for extraordinary measures to be taken in times of extreme threat. Such measures included malicious sabotage of enemy installations, and technology, biological warfare, and preemptive assassination. In other words in plain English, Defend United Earth and the United Federation of Planets by any means necessary much like most covert government agencies around the world operate.

About the USS Borex NI-0110

Designated as a NI prototype by Section 31, which generally used NI or NICA as numbered prefixes for their starships. The ship was created sometime after the Borg were discovered in Enterprise episode. 'Regeneration' (S2/E23) at an unknown location and timestamp. It is the first starship built by Section 31 for the purpose of performing covert operations for defending Starfleet against the Borg.

Listed in Starfleet database as a classified 4-nacelle starship, not a lot of information is known about the ship, other than it is fitted with heavy phaser bank arrays on the upper and lower saucer sections, extensive defensive shields and is equipped with experimental 'Hyper-warp" coils in the tail section (a precursor to the 'Transwarp' experiment seen in the Excelsior in ST IV: The Voyage Home). This was also the first Section 31 starship to be AI controlled (not to be confused with Section 31 drone ships) which allowed the ship to manned by only a crew of 27 officers which is 1/3 of the Enterprise which carried a crew of 83 officers.

There are clear indications that this ship was an large influence in the construction of future Constitution-Class starships seen in TOS. The ship was built based on the saucer size of the Enterprise NX-01 when the ship was constructed.

Colored in Stealth Black, this is a high-detail model of the x-wing type starship that includes a front-facing sensor array, along and an under-belly, plated, deflector dish. It includes pulsating engine buzzards and special lighting effects that make the nacelles appear to be in active warp flight with the Hyper-warp tail coils adding to the effective night lighting creating some cool special effects that the ship displays.
