Description
Grimheim is a kingdom of the mountain dwarves that live in vast cave fortresses. The dwarves keep a watchful vigilance up for the underground dangers. They watch their borders, and no one moves on their lands unseen. They befriend a precious few, and expand their kingdom carefully.
In times of war, dwarven armies of Grimheim are one of the most feared fighting forces in the world. Featuring unparalleled ferocity and iron discipline, they can be mustered on a moment's notice. In combat, units from various cities try to outdo each other in terms of enemies killed, banners taken and the like - war is a game and this is a way of keeping score. On the other hand, dwarves rarely ever surrender. They fight to the death, even when the odds are hopelessly against them. The best death a dwarf can hope for is one in battle, against impossible odds, with a witness who will someday make a song of their deeds.

This is a nation based on the Fortress faction from Heroes of Might and Magic V and VII (I haven't even played VII). While quite generic, this was something unique added after the "classic" Might and Magic series ended, so I decided to make a nation based on it. Actually, I looked at the unit rosters of all the factions from HoMMV, HoMMVI, and HoMMVII and realized that I could make some more nations based on them. Of course, there will be some overlap with the previous mods, but it's not like there's no overlap in vanilla nations.

this is very good factions, i love how sturdy they're. But i would have some improvemenets. I would add some archers or gunners, or even crossbowmens with bad precizion but good fighting skills (worse then actuall frontline dwarf). Because i lack any use of skirmishes and replace them in any way with basic archers. Also i would add some master smiths for them, because dwarves aren't renown for magic, but for their equipment and runes.
I would change the basic commander to be able lead more complex formations.
Anyway, i love this mod so much, i cannot play without it :)

Fun fact: Dom 6 added a -3 att penalty for mounted units wielding two-handed weapons. As a result, the bear riders have a uh, somewhat underwhelming effective attack score of 8.
