Flower-Class Corvette (v2)

Here is a Flower-class Corvette, a class of 294 corvette used by many allied nations during WW2.


The Flower-class was constructed in the UK for the Royal Navy, and all were named after flowers (hence the name of the class). They were built as anti-submarine and convoy escorting ships during WW2. The majority of them were used by Britain and Canada, with some being transferred to the US Navy. Other nations that used Flower corvettes include the free navies of France and Belgium, the Indian, Hellenic, Dutch, New Zealand, Norwegian, South African, and Yugoslav navies. The Kriegsmarine captured 4 vessels that were being constructed in France. Out of the 294, 33 were lost in WW2. After the war, many were transferred to many more nations like Israeli, Denmark, Argentina, China, Thailand, Venezuela, Ireland, Chile, Egypt, and the Dominican Republic. Only one Flower-class corvette exists today, HMCS Sackville, as a museum ship in Halifax.
