Description
The Plaza Picture-house was Bricksvilles' first purpose-built cinema and was opened in 1938.

The Plaza was built on the former grounds of the Bricksville community club. This club had been in the city since 1902 and was a communal centre for local residents, offering space for events and gatherings. For a period of around 12 years, the club was the headquarters of the Hilltown Town Council. The council would meet one each month to decide on new planning proposals and to settle neighbourhood issues.

As well as being home to the Town council, the club hosted 'Movie' evenings every second Friday. Although being relatively low-budget and crudely constructed, the temporary cinema was very popular with local residents. Demand was so high for this 'picture-house' that the hall would often become overcrowded.

In 1935, the Bricksville City Council proposed the construction of a new cinema building. There was however much opposition from members of the Community Club and the Hilltown Council board, as the plan involved demolishing the centre. An agreement was eventually reached that would entail a new Community centre being built by the City, at no cost to the members. This new hall was completed in 1940, only three city-blocks away from the new cinema.

The Plaza's 'golden age' is considered to be from its opening to around 1973. As the city's economic depression started to take its toll, the cinema lost popularity and ended up falling into disrepair.

This was until a community fund was started that aimed to raise enough funds to restore the building. This fund gained much traction amongst residents and, in a short space of time, enough money was raised for a complete restoration. The cinema reopened in 1994 and has stayed open ever since.

This is the seventh build in my architecture series. Once completed, I hope to implement these into an actual cover. ;)

L (Headlights) for exterior lights.

Any bugs/issues, let me know.

WARNING: This building must be double-pinned, either before or just after spawning.

Sure, as long as the workshop description contains credits to myself. :104:

I suppose you could also link the collection if you are going to use multiple builds.
