If the in-lore stuff in game, like the story is confusing, has any plot holes or is generally a mess, that's because CCIX is in early access. Tommorrow's update will add the rest of the story. I'm just letting you all have a taste of what CCIX is. If you have any suggestions to help aid the story or add any locations, feel free to shoot it down in the comments.

this map has something unique. An outside area at the top of the map that is the beginning area of the map aswell.

Lore Explained dev tape thing returns from CC8. It is in a isolated thin square you can find by looking outside of the CC9 map. Do not read it until after you have read all the lore tapes unless you like spoilers

Story takes place before CC6 but is not a part 4 for Containee Storyline
Anyway, enough yapping and onto the lore


In the cold and harsh enviorment of winter, workers transport some rather extra-ordinary invidiuals to this center located within the snow.
You may have heard the story of the Containees, but what nobody has told anyone up until now was the existence of a failed batch.

The X-Containees, marked with the X in their name are special variants of Containees that have been rebirthed out of Project Opus.
X-Containees retain a lot of prior memories to their previous lives before being brought here. Some have their powers kept and even amplified thanks to the energy override system within Portal OP-44 re-injecting some energy back into the Containee's soul to call the trip even.

If portal OP-44 had dangerous amounts of energy left however.. It would split the transporting Containee's body by two. Effectively cloning the body of the indiviual, but leaving the second body without a soul. Only retaining memories from the original Containee to give it some purpose within life.
Clones, otherwise referred to as Soulesses would often delay the Containee's trip to this world we know as our own. Sometimes the clone would appear first, while the "true" original copy of the Containee arrived later.

Regardless.. The X-Containees were noticed for how unordinary they had it. Powers, retained. Memories, still there. The workers, later decided that it would be unethecial to group THESE containees with the normal ones, Out of fear they could kill somebody, or even more.
Sent away to a center built in Alaska, they arrived in Center X.

The first and last batch, consisting of 18 X-Containees were given a tour to the inside of the building.
Inside, it was a small outpost. But the workers directed them to a elevator that descended downward into the Underground part of the facility.

Once they entered, the outpost on the outside became colder as snow piled even more.

A few years and winters later, You find this outpost standing among the snow. A personal promise to yourself brought you here.

That's about it. Next CC title will be CCX. It will pay a visit to the USRG Storyline yet again, revisiting old and seeing new faces.
Beyond that however, will be the next CC title. CCXI. The most detailed map to date, it is the Aftermath chapter to CC8 as it picks up from the last tape.

Even beyond that.. (THERE'S MORE?) will be the start of a new Storyline. The BROKEN WORLDS Storyline. It will touch apon the effects of Portal OP-44, showing the damage it has done to countless Homeworlds. CCXII will be unique yet again, map wise.
