Rise of the Republic Chapter Objectives (with Maps)
By Techpriest Enginseer
Rise of the Republic was specific about their historical objectives as their commented code! I made this so it was easier to see how the developer aimed how that faction possibly should have expanded.

Intro
I was inspired by Nefarious's Chapter Objectives[www.twcenter.net] and KoryHold's Chapter Objectives with Progression[www.twcenter.net] but found out there was no section for Rise of the Republic. So I made my own!

However, some things to note: there is a main difference between "holding" and "controling"
Holding means YOU and only YOU need to hold the province. No client states or military allies.
Controling, however gives you the option to use client states and military allies to fulfill this requirement.

The parenthesis as suggestion as to what provinces to conquer are merely just what I found within the developer's code comments since the Rise of the Republic Campaign has different historical objectives in which it heavily does not enforce who you trade with or conquer.

Hope this helps with you guys setting up how you want to play a faction in Rise of the Republic!

I will not make progression for the rest of the Grand Campaign or Imperator Augustus since the inspiration of those I've linked were already made!

Insubres

"Many years ago, King Bellovesus led several gallic tribes across the Alps. The Insubres were among the first and they founded the formidable city of Mediolanon. Now, they are surrounded by tribes fierce and treacherous such as the Lepontii and the Raeti of the northern highlands. Gauls inhibit the plains south of Mediolanon; their chieftains could easily forego the bonds of blood due to unbridled avarice. The Ligurians are also a serious force, as their taciturn warriors are eager to avenge any aggression tenfold, even an imagined slight. Despite all this, opportunities for prosperity abound!"
Chapter I (Champion): Watching Our Backs

Control 2 Provinces (Gallia Transpadena and Lepontii Suggested): Diplomacy is a useful tool for achieving political goals. Its virility, however, depends on the strength of our tribe. However, to be successful during the talks we must first be effective with our boots - it is wise to control the territories in our immediate vicinity.
  • I: (3300) Research The Sacred Hunt
  • II: (3300) Construct a Farmers’ Market
Chapter II (Spy): One Step Further

Control 4 Provinces (Chapter I + Liguria and Raetia Suggested): Securing the mountain ranges to the east should protect us from unpleasant surprises, as some of the local tribes are traditionally inclined to show up unannounced and cause damage. Simultaneously, it is strategically prudent to acquire access to the sea.
  • I: (3600) Research We Sack
  • II: (3600) Construct a Mineral Spring

Chapter III (6100): Hold Northern Italy

Control 7 Provinces (Chapter I, II + Venetia, Gallia Cispadena, and Etruria Suggested): The rest of northern Italy lies before us, fertile and with favourable terrain. Gaining control over it promises to be highly beneficial; with our skills and wisdom, it also seems easily achievable.
  • I: (3800) Establish and maintain Trade with at least 4 Factions
  • II: (3800) Maintain 6 Units of Longsword Warriors

Chapter IV (8400): Fit for a King

Construct a Great Hall: With the growth of our domains, the responsibilities and glory of our leaders have risen in tandem. To match them, we must improve our understanding of construction techniques, ensuring we our buildings achieve a new level of majesty. The world, in return, will be more agreeable...
  • I: (4050) Forge a Defensive or Military Alliance with Iolei
  • II: (3800) Construct a Trumpet Maker

Chapter V (13200): Facing South

Control 11 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III + Tuscia, Sabinia, Picenum, Umbria Suggested): The south is proud and ambitious; Etruscans and Romans, Italians and Greeks all scramble there, vying for superiority. We have the wisdom to step in and restore order, and the common sense to remain to see it is kept.
  • I: (6500) Tarchuna must be eliminated
  • II: (6500) Maintain 8 Units of Gallic Elder Swordsmen

Chapter VI (18000): Our Rightful Place

Control 15 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III, V + Corsica + 3 of Choice): We control a vast domain, which allows us to shape the world according to our choices. A stronghold in Corsica will ensure that the sea, just as the land, becomes a secure border against attack from without.
  • I: (8550) Research Trimarcisia
  • II: (8550) Construct a High King’s Hold

Chapter VII (21600): A Stain on the Gallic Character

Senones must be eliminated (or confederated as allowed between the two factions): Brennus' greatness is unchallenged. His conduct, on the other hand, invites criticism: his inclination to sell his sword to the highest bidder makes him an unreliable ally; his passion for sacking cities has made him a hated brute. Now, no one would cry at his demise!
  • I: (11030) Hold at least one of every strategic resource
  • II: (6500) Maintain 20 Units of Gallic Heavy Spearmen

  • VI: Maintain 10 of the Buildings: Druid’s Grove or Druid Circle.
  • VII: Hold at least one of every strategic resource
Iolei

The Iolei of Sardinia are an ancient and indomitable people. Once they shared the isle of Sardinia with other tribes of the same blood. Then the Carthaginians came and claimed the coastland for themselves. The time has come to rise and drive the insolent invaders into the very sea they came from! The Balari have often swore that they are brothers to the Iolei, yet, when push comes to shove, they may hesitate. Either awaken their strength in the upcoming fight or conquer them and take their land! Sardinia is the first arena of battle - be worthy of Sardus Pater!

Chapter I (Champion): Our Sardinia, Our Own

Control 2 Provinces (Ioleia and Balaria Suggested): Sardinia is our home, generous in food and water. Her forests provide wood and shelter, her coasts, wealth and safety. However, Sardinia, unfortunately, is not ours. Carthage controls some of her territory - it is most urgent that we change that situation!
  • I: (3300) Research The Sacred Hunt
  • II: (3300) Construct a Storage Pit

Chapter II (Dignitary): Our Corsica

Control 3 Provinces (Chapter I + Corsica Suggested): The Balearic island of Corsica lies in our backyard. Its resources are dismissively small but its importance for our safety is paramount. Establishing control over the island will shield us against aggression from the north, and could also be a stepping stone for future expansion.
  • I: (3600) Research The Terror of Carthage
  • II: (3600) Construct a Shrine of Sardus

Chapter III (6100): Mainlanding

Control 4 Provinces (Chapter I, II + Liguria Suggested): Our roots are strong yet insular. The natural limits of our territory hinder growth and expansion, so an established stronghold on the mainland would provide our kin with space for further development. The lands to the north seem most suitable!
  • I: (3800) Establish and maintain Trade with at least 4 Factions
  • II: (3800) Maintain 6 Units of Iolean Javelinmen

Chapter IV (8400): The Source of All Life

Research Honouring the Waters: With the expansion of our territories we are starting to encounter tribes and cities with different cultures and strange deities. Some of them are powerful and possessive, so it is of great importance that we keep our own traditions alive and strong.

  • II: (3800) Construct a Fishing Port

Chapter V (13200): Facing East

Control 7 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III + Elymia, Gallia Cispadana, Etruria Suggested): New lands lie before us, fertile and favourable in terrain. Gaining control over easily accessible valleys and fields in northern Italy and Sicily promises to be highly beneficial. With our military prowess, it also seems easily achievable.
  • I: (6500) Hold Ariminum
  • II: (6500) Maintain 8 Units of Noble Sardi Archers

Chapter VI (18000): Raiding for Fun & Profit

Control 12 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III, V + Carthago, Latium + 3 of Choice): We have become quite efficient at showing up unexpectedly at the coastal cities of eastern Italy! This tactic keeps our warriors, as well as our rivals, on their toes. Just beyond the horizon, to the east, lies Latium, and to the south, Carthage. To arms!
  • I: (8550) Research Feasting
  • II: (8550) Construct a Builder’s Hall

Chapter VII (21600): Dying Remnants of an African Power

  • VII: Carthage must be eliminated.
Rome

Rome is at war! The Etruscans of Veii have been our enemies for many years and since peace is out of the question, we must bring them down by force of arms. The proud Volsci of Latium are carefully observing the conflict and will undoubtedly strike should we provoke their ire. In such a conflict, we might try to ally with the Hernici. Meanwhile, rumour has it that a new threat is sitting beyond the lands of the cowardly Sabines and docile Umbri. Be mindful, yet brave! May Mars watch over you!

Chapter I (Dignitary): Think About an End

Hold 2 Provinces (Roma and Veii Suggested): It has been ten years since military hostilities began between us and the Etruscan city of Veii. Situated very close to each other, we have been rivals for more than a century. We cannot share power and influence with these people anymore. Only one can prevail.
  • I: (3300) Raze or Sack Veii
  • II: (3300) Research In Vino Veritas
  • III: (3300) Construct a Ring

Chapter II (Spy): Watching Our Backs

Control 4 Provinces (Chapter I + Latium and Sabinia Suggested): The Latin people are our cousins. The people of the mountains, on the other hand, are more of a pain in the neck than an itch. They both hold territories in immediate proximity to Rome. Obviously, it is in their interests to partner with us... and be a protective buffer.
  • I: (3600) Research Spolia Opima
  • II: (3600) Construct a Shrine of Jupiter

Chapter III (6100): Hold This Ground

Control 7 Provinces (Chapter I,II + Umbria, Picenum, and Campania Suggested): Our horizons widen. To the south lie territories with fertile lands and rich coastal waters; to the north, barbarians roam the hills. It seems that we face two different priorities of equal intensity. The simplest course of action is to conquer them both!
  • I: (3800) Establish and maintain Trade with at least 4 Factions
  • II: (3800) Maintain 6 Units of Centuriae

  • I: (4050) Forge a Defensive or Military Alliance with the Ventiis
  • II: (3800) Construct an Amphora Factory

Chapter V (13200): A Stroll Through Magna Graecia

Control 11 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III + Samnium, Frentani, Lucania, Bruttium Suggested): We have been looking at Magna Graecia, with its rolling pastures, rich soils and abundance of useful resources. Its weather, too, is favourably warm and its settlements populous. Strategically, it is in our best interest to assume control there as soon as possible.
  • I: (6500) Samnites must be eliminated
  • II: (6500) Maintain 8 Units of Triarii

Chapter VI (18000): Our Rightful Place

Control 15 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III, V + Gallia Cispadana, Italia Suggested + 2 Province of Choice [Corsica, Senonia, Liguria, Etutria for Victory Suggestion from Guide]): At this point, we can safely assume that our dominance over Italy is only a matter of time. Even so, we should continue to expand - our minds focused always on the task at hand.
  • I: (8550) Research The Legend of Camillus
  • II: (8550) Construct a Hippodromus

Chapter VII (21600): The Slave Becomes the Master

Tarchuna must be eliminated: We've learned a lot from them. In our infancy, we learned civilisation from their example and their strength deterred the others' ambitions against us. Unfortunately, when the time came, they failed to recognise us as peers; now, they shall accept us as superiors!
  • I: (11030) Hold at least one of every strategic resource
  • II: (6500) Maintain 8 Units of Ensis Principes

  • IV: Maintain 100 Units of either Hastai, Princieps, or Triarii.
  • V: Senones must be eliminated
Samnites

The Samnites are famous for their honour and courage. In recent years, they have maintained peace with their Fretani and Paeligni kinsmen while forcing Daunian and Lucanian raiders to recognise the superiority of Samnite swordsmen. At the hill of Samnium grow overpopulated, they must settle elsewhere, yet the ancient ritual of Ver Sacrum is hardly an option. This is why the Samnites must march into Campania: to claim its verdant pastures and rich ports. Once the Greeks are driven away and their land has been conquered, the Samnites can turn their gaze toward Latium and the city of Rome beyond.

Chapter I (Spy): Access to the Coast

Hold 2 Provinces (Samnium and Campania Suggested): The mountains are our home, providing us with everything we need. The sea coast, however, offers riches far beyond our current means. To prevent the current occupants from growing too strong, it is imperative that we secure this territory for ourselves.
  • I: (3300) Research Ver Sacrum
  • II: (3300) Construct a Herding Ground

Chapter II (Dignitary): One Foot in Magna Graecia

Hold 4 Provinces (Chapter I + Lucania and Bruttium Suggested): The fertile lands of Magna Graecia enable steady agricultural production for relatively little effort. For the hard-working high-lander, such places are a gift from the gods... a gift which must first be acquired.

  • II: (3600) Construct a Bronze Forge

Chapter III (6100): Cleaning House

Control 7 Provinces (Chapter I, II + Frentania, Apulia, Italia Suggested): The rest of Southern Italy lies before us, fertile and well populated. The only hinderance to our expansion has a Greek face. Yet the Greeks are intruders in Italy - these lands belong to our people by right.

  • II: (3800) Maintain 6 Units of Samnite Armoured Spearmen

Chapter IV (8400): Temple of Sacred Oaths

  • II: (3800) Construct a Great Fair

Chapter V (13200): Facing North

Control 11 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III + Latium, Sabinia, Picenum, Umbria Suggested): The north is still untamed - dangers of different kinds lurk in the shadows. Romans, Senones and Etruscans are looking at our growing power with alarm and disdain. Facing them in battle will be unavoidable.
  • I: (6500) Rome must be eliminated
  • II: (6500) Maintain 8 Units of Samnite Silver Infantryman

Chapter VI (18000): Our Rightful Place

Control 16 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III, V + Roma + 4 of your Choice): We control a significant part of Italy, which makes us one of the most influential players on the peninsula. However, strength breeds opposition and overwhelming strength crushes it. It seems that we have but one path to follow…
  • I: (8550) Research Weapons Training
  • II: (8550) Construct a Monument of War

Chapter VII (21600): No Surprises

  • VI: Construct a Monument of War.
  • VII: Rome, Akagras, Agyrion, Croton, Neapolis, Rhegion, Syracuse, Taras must be eliminated
Senones

Of all the Gallic tribes that crossed the Alphs, the Senones were the last. They have since reached the Adriatic coast and conquered some land of their own; now their chief, Brennus, ponders his next move. To the north are the Boii - wind and unpredictable, yet kinsmen nonetheless. To the south, is the dominion of Etruscans and Umbri - idle and slow people, as rich as they are complacent. Their warriors are no match for Senone swordsmen, who are ready to march to hell if there is loot were to be had!

Chapter I (Spy): The Newcomers

Control 2 Provinces (Senonia and Picenum Suggested): We followed our chieftain across the Alps in search for our new home. We settled here, in Senonia, on the Mediterranean coast. The land is fine, but sadly far from secure - our survival now depends on access to more land and resources.

  • II: (3300) Construct a Grove of Toutatis

Chapter II (Dignitary): Establishing Our Presence

Control 4 Provinces (Chapter I + Gallia Cispadena and Etruria Suggested): Our most powerful rivals occupy the lands to the west and the south. • II: (3600) Construct a Bronze Forge

Chapter III (6100): Taras Must Be Destroyed!

  • II: (3800) Maintain 6 Units of Naked Warriors

Chapter IV (8400): Fit for a King

  • II: (3800) Construct a Salt Workshop

Chapter V (13200): Rome Must Be Destroyed!

  • I: (6500) Tarchuna must be eliminated
  • II: (6500) Maintain 8 Units of Noble Gallic Swordsmen

Chapter VI (18000): Carthage Must Be Destroyed!

Syracuse

For Dionysius of Syracuse, power is only a tool with which to gain more power. Having consolidated his grip over the magnificent polis and nearby cities, the tyrant is preparing to unite all Greek communities in Sicily one way or another. Only in this way, will Syracuse be able to thwart the threat of the intolerable Carthaginian invaders, who defile Sicilian soil with their presence. Once they are forced out for good, Dionysius can turn his attention towards Magna Graecia, home of yet more Greeks - they will be forced to acknowledge his supremacy!

Chapter I (Champion): Watching Our Backs

Hold 2 Provinces (Sikelia and Sicania Suggested): Times are perilous. Carthage is ambitious and has a footing in Sicily; our home is not really our own. We desperately need that to change. First, we will establish a strong backbone and secure the fertile lands at the foot of Mount Etna.

  • II: (3300) Construct a Library

  • II: (3800) Maintain 6 Units of Greek Ballistas

  • VII: Taras and Carthage must be eliminated.
Taras

The city of Taras is named after the son of Poseidon and considers the sea-god to be its founder. Currently, Taras' importance and influence has grown over nearby areas, but so have threats from nearby. The Iapygian tribes of Appulia and Calabria both covet the wealth of Taras and fear its hoplites, who are said to be descended from the Spartans. The Lucani people to the north also need to be closely watched, as their fickle nature might make them suddenly aggressive. All is not grim, however, as with proper incentives other Greek poleis on the southern coast of Magna Graecia may be willing to lend their aid.

Chapter I (Champion): Watching Our Backs

Control 2 Provinces (Calabria and Apulia Suggested): Times are promising; the lands of southern Italy are fertile, and the weather is most favourable for our needs. Tarchuna

Of all the glorious Etruscan cities, Tarchuna shines as an emerald atop a pile of pearls. Its vast and fertile lands are home to many artisans, traders, and artists. Though their skills are much envied by the other Etruscans, it is unlikely that this envy will lead to bloodshed. Only the city of Veii is the black sheep in the Etruscan flock; its king wages a pointless war against the Romans and there is no telling what the limits of his aggression will be. Great care is required - if the Veientines, or anyone else, conquers Tarchuna, all will be lost!

Chapter I (Spy): Etruria in Sempiternum!

Hold 2 Provinces (Tarchuna and Tuscia Suggested): Etruria is a fine and precious land, one that allows our people to prosper in accordance with the gods' will. Our culture and wealth are unsurpassed, our rivals inferior. The neighbouring territories should naturally fall under our control.
  • I: (3300) Research Libri Rituales
  • II: (3300) Construct a Local Registry

Chapter II (Champion): Watching Our Backs

Control 4 Provinces (Chapter I + Umbria and Etruria Suggested): Tarchuna, the shining city on the hill, attracts the gaze of envious eyes, both from within Italy and from beyond its borders. To protect our home and prosperity, it would be wise to establish a buffer between us and our neighbours. Acquiring a few new territories should suffice.
  • I: (3600) Research Taming Rome
  • II: (3600) Construct a Farm

Chapter III (6100): Behead the Wolf!

Rome must be eliminated: At first, they showed some potential. Then, they bet their future on their great 'republic' - a civilised society like no other. However, the spark that brought Rome into existence will never turn into a raging, uncontrollable fire.

  • II: (3800) Maintain 6 Units of Etruscan Hoplites

  • II: (3800) Construct a Trade Harbour

Chapter V (13200): Etruria in Italy

  • II: (8550) Construct an Oracle of Tinia

Chapter VII (21600): Coastal Clearances

Insubres must be eliminated: Insubria is of high strategic value to those wishing to secure their northern borders and protect them from attack. Its people, unfortunately, claim an ancient right of ownership over this territory and show no interest in a mutually-beneficial solution. We have no choice but to remove them.
  • I: (11030) Hold at least one of every strategic resource
  • II: (6500) Maintain 20 Units of Etruscan Axe Infantry

Veneti

The Venetis have defended their land vehemently against any would-be invaders - their neighbors are well aware of Venetian bravery and the exceptional qualities of the Venetian horse. However, it remains paramount to always keep a watchful eye on your borders. To the north, the mountain-dwelling Raeti might decide to try their luck at any point. The same is true of the unruly Gauls, who prefer raiding to farming, and are known for their bloodlust rather than their goodwill. Come what may, mighty Diomedes of old protects the Veneti, and their sword-arms are throbbing with his strength!

Chapter I (Dignitary): A Safe Parameter

Control 2 Provinces (Venetia and Gallia Cisapadena Suggested): We occupy fertile lands with favourable terrain. They are highly valuable, so many of our neighbours often display unsavoury appetites towards them. To protect our future prosperity, we need to ensure our strength. A step in a south-westerly direction seems very appropriate.
  • I: (3300) Research Informant Network
  • II: (3300) Construct a Cattle Pens

Chapter II (Champion): Watching Our Backs

Control 4 Provinces (Chapter I + Raetia and Liguria Suggested): The Alps are inhospitable and harsh, and conquering them would not bring much commercial benefit. It would create, however, a strategic barrier which will protect our back. Simultaneously, it is recommended that we continue to acquire rich, fertile lands.
  • I: (3600) Research Imported Etruscan Pottery
  • II: (3600) Construct a Bard’s Grove

Chapter III (6100): Hold Northern Italy

Control 7 Provinces (Chapter I, II + Lepontii, Gallia Transpadana, Etruria Suggested): It is natural to want to finish what you have started. Securing the whole of northern Italy would bring our campaign to a successful conclusion. However, we expect growing resistance - again, a natural thing, as people rarely embrace change, especially a change of ruler!
  • I: (3800) Establish and maintain Trade with at least 4 Factions
  • II: (3800) Maintain 6 Units of Veneti Heavy Cavalry

Chapter IV (8400): All the Best Horses

  • I: (4050) Forge a Defensive or Military Alliance with Rome
  • II: (3800) Construct a Salt Workshop

Chapter V (13200): Facing South

Control 11 Provinces (Chapter I, II, III + Tuscia, Sabinia, Picenum, Umbria Suggested): The south is proud and ambitious. Etruscans and Romans, Italians and Greeks - they all scramble for the heart of Italy, vying for superiority. It seems that we must step in and restore order there, then stay in order to keep it.
  • I: (6500) Senones must be eliminated
  • II: (6500) Maintain 8 Units of Veneti Ekupetaris

Chapter VI (18000): Our Rightful Place

Chapter VII (21600): Etruria Eroded

Tarchuna must be eliminated: Old age and weakness eventually come to us all. Tarchuna has had her moment in the sun, but now it is time for her to disappear into the annals of history. Their elaborate funerary art seems fitting for such an unfortunate development.
