MCRN-Skywatch Helios

Description
I always loved jrandall's MCRN-Skywatch but I also play a lot with a Janus Helios module.
So I wanted to combine both. I literally copy/pasted a module bay from the Helios MSC and replaced one of the hangar doors.
It's not perfect but it does a fairly good job and allows to park a Helios CV module correctly.

Also note this is a stripped version in order to stay as cheap as possible.

(BA Tier 2, Class 2, Unlock Level 10)

Primary roles: Starter Space Station, Shield Ready, Solar, Storage, Defense Ready, Hangar, Landing pad, Farm, Crafting, WiFi, Alpha 11.x

Built for Xcaliber's February Challenge.

The MCRN-Skywatch Station is a CPU Tier 2 starter space base designed to upgrade to a CPU tier 3 with much more functionality. Stock it comes with 4x200K storage, 16K ammo storage, 3 additional cargo boxes, 3 cooking stations and fridges, 2x18 grow plot farms, compartmentalized o2 and station, armor locker, med station, wifi, 14 large solar panels and 2 capacitors, 1 small generator and fuel tanks. It also comes with an instruction LCD with steps to upgrade to CPU tier 3 with many more features.

CPU Tier 3 Upgrades:

Upgrading to CPU tier 3 will allow you to place many more parts and defenses. This includes: Shield (T2), Pentaxid Tank, 8 3x3 turrets (4 on top, 4 on bottom), Armor repair, Repair bay and Console, 2x De-constructors, 2x Furnaces, and Offline Protection. A LCD in the hangar will give instructions on where to place the items and upgrade the CPU to Tier 3.

Offense and Defense:

The station was made from carbon substrate to keep costs low with a quick build time for it's size. The core however is surrounded by concrete blocks for added safety. It does not come stock with any turrets, but upgrading to CPU Tier 3 allows for placement of 8 3x3 turrets, 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom, and a T2 shield.

Features Summary:

1. BA Class 2, CPU tier 2, Unlock level 10
2. 4x200K storage
3. 8 Turret mount points, 2x18 grow plot farms
4. Decent sized pass thru hangar (5x9 doors) and landing pads
5. 14 Large solar panels and 2 capacitors as well as backup generator and fuel tanks
6. Armor locker, 3 fridges and cooking stations
7. CPU tier 3 upgrade allows for T2 Shield and pentaxid tank, 2 de-constructors, 2 Furnances, Armor repair, repair bay and console, 8 turrets

Notes: When placing station, aim solar panels towards the sun for best solar power input. Closer planets to the sun will provide more power for the solar panels. Also for the sake of getting better lighting for screen shots, many pictures show this spawned planet side however this is a space only base and not designed to spawn on or above in the atmosphere on a planet.

I hope you enjoy!

It may just be me spawning it in RE2 but I found 2-3 places where it is not airtight. On either side of the Hangar door to the Helios dock, there are small "canals" in the wall, that cause O2 to escape. Also the curved indents on that wall need to be replaced with solid cubes. Replacing this I made it airtight now.

Oh, I love these Helios rebuilds of old classics. I now have the Helix Orbital (RE2) which will become my main space base once I find the right spot and this one I can use as a cheap outpost/furnace base solution. I'll check if it needs any refitting for RE2.
