Description
June, 1944. Allied forces have landed on 5 beach heads on the northern cost of Normandy, starting the Allied invasion of mainland Europe. Caen, a day one objective for the British and Commonwealth forces, would take 6 weeks to capture and the surrounding towns would see some of the fiercest fighting in the Normandy campaign.

Allied forces would attempt to flank the town and disrupt German forces in several different operations throughout June and July. Bougy, a small town 8 miles southwest of Caen, was one of the towns along the path of one such Allied offensive...

An 8' by 6' wargame map depicting the French town of Bougy (based on its inclusion in Close Combat - Gateway to Caen), featuring pastures, bocage, wooded enclosures, townhouses, gardens, and a café.

THE FOLLOWING MODS/MODELS WERE USED WITH PERMISSION, EITHER EXPLICITLY OR IN THE CONDITIONS OF USE ALLOWED, IN CREATING THIS MAP:
  • lagesnpiet, creator of the custom table model: https://skfb.ly/oK7Un
  • Caboose3D, creator of the telegraph pole models: https://skfb.ly/6SMOQ
  • Almega's 3D Props and Models mod
  • BuketOBoatTrash's Fallout Ultimate Prop Collection mod
  • Many of Saught's Assets/Models/Objects/Props mods
  • Various maps from Baryonyx

This map includes a variety of noteworthy features, including:
  • Custom, high quality building models that all have removable roofs so you can place models inside the buildings!
  • Fully furnished interiors, allowing you to keep track of the position of soldiers inside buildings in games that require/allow it (such as Chain of Command) or to simply signify which soldiers are firing out of a window (such as in Bolt Action).
  • Scripted second floors that don't cause models to fall down onto the first—models are temporarily hidden under the table and called back up when needed.
  • Destructable (via states) bocage hedgerows, allowing for tanks to bust through them!
  • A cute Parisian café!
  • Crossroads, gardens, pastures, and other potential objectives!

There are minor updates here and there planned for this map, but these will likely be far into the future as I work on other projects. For now, however, I am content to get this out there and onto the workshop as soon as possible. It's definitely very playable!

One thing to note is the prevalence of bocage hedgerows on this map. Normandy was infamous for its bocage, making progress in the immediate weeks after D-Day slow and costly. The hedgerows on this map block line of sight and cannot be climbed, and so it can seem very oppressive to movement, but such is true to life. If it proves too oppressive, there's no shame in setting some of the bocage to be destroyed prior to a game's start—victims of bombardment, purposeful demolitions, or the scars of previous breakthroughs. Of course, this is with your opponent's agreement!

WARNING: The houses included in this model (except for the cafe) all include scripting! If copied into another save, errors will pop up whenever the states are changed! To avoid this, you can find scriptless versions of the townhouse models here, free for you to use!

If you find any issues or bugs (especially with the floor system!) or have any other feedback or praise please let me know in the comments below! I'm really happy to be able to get this out to the larger Tabletop Simulator community after so much work on it :)

Honestly the best bolt action map on the workshop. Perhaps the best wargaming map outright. The bocages and houses are amazing.

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This really was a labour of love, and it gave me a taste for how nice maps in TTS can be and so I'm definitely eager to keep working on more!!!

Wow, you really outdid yourself with those houses! They are wonderful.

And the map is well assembled too. The houses are furnished to give a sense of being lived in, but not so much that you would struggle to place figures.
I can just see how much effort and eye for detail went into it all.

Thanks for the map. And for the mention!
