Description
The Valkyrie V-Wing, now available in blueprint form! Uses the Armor Thrusters mod by Darth Biomech, the Battlecannon, Autocannon, and Scattercannon by NinjaPirate.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Valkyrie V-Wing Mk IV, or the "Valk" as she is affectionately known by her pilots (and not to be confused with the F-101 Valkyries used by the C-101 Carrier), is the latest in a long lineage of multi-role attack craft as old as the IL-2 Sturmovik or the F-4 Phantom II, a sturdy and robust airframe built around six large thrusters and a distinctive V-shaped fuselage. Though average in a dogfight, where she is likely to be outmaneuvered by smaller, more nimble foes, the Valk shines at intercepting and destroying light capital ships like corvettes and frigates, and delivering punishing blows to larger capital ships. With ample storage for additional ammo, fuel, or even spare parts, the Valkyrie can make deep incursions without the need to stop and refuel or rearm.

Her most outstanding feature, however, is her survivability. The Valkyrie is designed in such a way that, even with one or both wings torn or otherwise blown off, the cockpit should still be able to make an escape - and with its twin scattercannons, a fighting retreat at that - barring critical damage to the cockpit itself.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upgraded once again to Mark V, the Valkyrie V-Wing has now been equipped with CSD cannons - the scatter, auto, and battle cannons in particular, and loaded up with ammunition for each, as well as over 20 rounds apiece of Armor Piercing and High Explosive for the battlecannon. The Mark V also features an upgraded power plant and thruster array, giving it substantially improved maneuverability.

The Valkyrie is designed to be survival-ready, with conveyor systems running from nose to wing pylons and high capacity for carrying additional fuel and ammo, and comes with a good quantity of fuel and ammo pre-loaded. Its control systems have also been optimized for a degree of realism - both guns and missiles are designed to be armed (by being turned on) and then fired.

As well, the power-hungry large thrusters have been put into a single group as "afterburners" - they can quickly be turned on for a quick burst of forward acceleration to speed, then turned off without switching off inerial dampeners as well, allowing for you to maneuver without burning fuel as quickly as otherwise.

The Valkyrie also sports three antennae - the main antenna in the nose which broadcasts its class and presence at 5km, and two "data" antennas at the rear of the wings for recording the particular ship's name (which is set to not broadcast), and the ship's enemy kill tally (broadcast at 100m). The two broadcasting antenna are also grouped to make switching them on and off faster. Tradition dictactes that the destruction of the kill record antenna demands a "reset" of the ship's record, so watch your six!

For the future I will focus on testing the Valk more in fights and identifying good spots to give heavy armor, as well as adding more paint jobs.
