Orion symbolically dies each year in a sacrificial fire at the heart of the forest kingdom and is reborn the following year. At the same time, the Wild Hunt will begin, and forest spirits will spread throughout the woodlands, once again making Athel Loren's trees, birds, and beasts thrive.

Orion came to the Sacred Pool through the worldroot pathway to perform a rebirth ceremony, but the place had been stolen by the ratmen. When Orion drove away the ratmen, the lizardmen came to interrupt the ceremony and claimed that all the jungles belonged to them. Orion laughed at this. He raised his weapon and blew his huge horn, calling to the elves of Athel Loren: The Wild Hunt begins now!

Durthu responded to the calls for help from the spirits of the forest and came to the Bowmen of Oreon through the worldroot pathway, witnessing the brutal cutting down of countless trees and the greedy side of the pure-blood race. Durthu's patience was at its end, and he was filled only with anger and rage. The former peacemaker became a god of wrath, making no difference in his eyes whether the lost, the innocent, or the evil.

There are many strange stories spread among the humans of the Empire and Bretonnia, such as trees suddenly coming to life and beginning to thirst for blood for no reason, often destroying entire villages and towns, tearing all local residents into mutilated pieces of flesh. These attacks may seem aimless, but Drycha's actions must have a deeper purpose than just killing people for fun.
